Quick question from a new player

Hi,

This is probably a stupid question, but I figured there's no harm in asking.

I've been a big fan of Baldurs Gate for many years now, and upon seeing Icewind Dale 2 for only a few dollars in my local game store yesterday I decided to pick it up. Anyway, when I got into the game, I found it unusual that all of the NPC's are silent. In Baldur's Gate all of the NPC's said a few words when you right-click on them, and have a battle cry or something similar when they attack you, but not IWD2. My question is, is this just the way the game is, or have I installed something wrong?
Similarly, I've heard great things about the music in IWD2, but The only music I've heard so far is in the main menu, ie no battle music or exploration music. Is their supposed to be music on all the time?

Thanks for your time.

I think it depends how you set your sound options. You should be able to hear battle cries, something when you click on a character, and always music.

Try looking at the sound options and change some settings around.

Edit: there is some changes from BG2 in that there is no inter-character dialogue or romances and such.
