Killing Draconis as a Green Dragoon

Believe it or not this is my second time round, but for the life of me I cannot kill the Green Dragon which Draconis turns into. I have been working on it for days and every time I try, he just blows my party away and I don't seem to be able inflict any damage on him. I'm missing something, but what???

Hello.
Could you tell us who are in your party at which level, and also what equipment they are using?
You have mentioned your second time, so presumably you didn't have problem killing him before, right?

I had this problem recently as well. On previous occasions I'd had no trouble, but for whatever reason I was having problems.
I finally resorted to spike traps, laying them outside of his range of vision before the battle, and then luring him into them once he transformed.

Draconis is considered one of the toughest opponents in the vanilla (unmodded) game. Luckily, there's a ton of threads about how to fight him on these forums. Also, check the strategy guides on Game Banshee.

I always have trouble with draconis... I usually get a spell trigger full of Wharding whips, so i dont have to keep breaching him. If you've got a fighter mage, give him as many protection from magical weapons as possible, and Spell Immunity: Abjuration keeps him from dispelling it. Summoning Devas and planetars helps immensly: their the only summons that Draconis does'nt kill in three seconds... Didn't try Mord's sword, though... Ruby ray's helped, and try to follow him into a corner when he goes invisible, to keep him from running away and healing himself. Good luck...

I generally ignore most of that. Get him to dragon form, have mage with robe of vecna and amulet of power cast time stop, improved alacrity, chain contingency: see enemy: nearest enemy: 3x Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wilting, followed by as many Abi Dalzim's as I have. Though some would tend to call that cheese, I suppose.

I fail to see how anyone could call that cheese - it's just regular spellcasting.
Cheese is what you do when you're having your simulacrum using the rift device on him

Horrid wilting, sunfire, dragons breath, other spells that seem to ignore all magical defenses, barring spell Immunity are cheesy to me. Sure, I love taking out a group of Koa-touns with a horrid wilting, but not dragons... Oh well. If it's fun it's fun, right?

One kind of neat way I occaionaly use for killing certain powerful enemies is by using timestop. With a fighter/mage or mage w/ tensor's, if the enemy isnt immune to timestop, cast it, and hack away after all his/her protections are dispelled. When you cast timestop, all attacks automatically hit! This worked wonders for me against various enemies, Draconis included.

This might be some sort of smarter dragon thing, but draconis almost always goes invisible when one of my fighter mage casts time stop... And unless you get lucky or are really good with true sight, that makes attacking him kinda hard.

Please note also that since hitting under time stop is a 100% chance, then as long as your opponent doesn't have Protection from Magic Weapons (or some other physical protection, not including stoneskin), you can pretty easily kill them via Shapeshift: Mindflayer. Generally not to be used, as IIRC you don't get the XP points, but useful if you can't find a way to kill them.
