ok so im currently in my first run through the game and just made it to chinatown. i have met with the kuei jin baroness lady and gotten talked to ho and gotten the quest about his daughter, as well as the quest from the school girl to kill the demon thing. problem is, even after i get these quests i go to the lotus massage parlor/fishmarket and the doors are still locked. im virtually positive this is a bug as i have tried everything. im using patch 1.9, if anyone can help me out let me know.

if you have got the quests then its a bug as the doors unlock as soon as you get those quests. it might be the patch as with 1.8 it works fine. don't know what to suggest. have you tried backing up your saves folder and then uninstalling the patch and using an earlier patch instead?

Had the same problem, reinstalled the game with patch 1.2 and it worked fine. Btw where can I find a link to 1.8 all links seems to point to the broken 1.9.

The 'redux' of v1.9 patch has been placed on this site, and it works properly. I am not sure where v1.8 is still listed, but I do have a copy which I can try to send, if you still need it.

I have the same problem, but I cannot find the fixed v1.9 on this web site. May I request an email?

Thanks, Bill

Oh, and it's been quite a while since VV said she was gonna mail me something... when should I be expecting it? :)

I've had VV's E-Mails before I'd finished the quests, but she never actually said she would E-Mail me. Are you sure you're not talking about her poster? She initially says she will give you a photograph in lieu of a poster that will arrive later. The poster automatically appears on the wall of your haven. Go there and look around.

Thanks for the reply. I am grateful that people still monitor this forum. Now, I wait on the main part of my question. :)

Thanks again,

Bill

Okay, I was an idiot. I just read the news on the gamebanshee Bloodlines page and figured out where to get it.

Thanks for your patience!

I have exactly the same problem! I've worked my way through all the areas, only to find that the doors won't unlock on the massage parlour and the little girl wont leave her shop (to meet me at the fish market) in China town. I figured my must be a bug... so I applied patch 1.2 and then 1.9... but no joy... am I going to have to start from scratch? :(

I think you can try installing 1.8 over it, but I'm not sure that fixes the problem. What I did was save my save directory and the config.cfg file (where your key mapping and your character neam and stuff resides) and then uninstalled and reinstalled 1.0, then 1.2, then 1.8. Unfortunately for me, the 1.2 patch still thought it was installed after all this, so you may have to hack the registry and remove the entry for vampire 1.2 (see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=247501 for details on how to do that).

I backed up my saves... installed the game on my other computer (no patches), put the saves on that computer, loaded a game in hollywood before the chinatown section, and then played through chinatown on that computer, moving back to my main machine after I had completed the quests there.

Thanks for your help! It does seem to be a problem with the 1.9 patch :(

THAT is an innovative way to work the problem! I'm glad you were able to work around it. I hope a version 2.0 patch comes out soon. :)

Fixing the Chinatown bugs

Crosspost from another forum about the same problem...

Solution found at Planet Vampire forums. See:

Sorry guys, but this errors are indeed from the corruption that occured when uploading the 1.9 patch. To fix it fast, open vampire/python/chinatown/chinatown.py with some editor, search for "wong = Find("WongHo")" and add two spaces in front. Then everything should work fine again. Also expect the 2.0 patch to fix this very soon ;) ...
This worked for me.
