what class and race are you and what are your stats? also what weapons are you trying to use. i have never had a problem with any slaads as far as hitting and wounding them is concerned. they do regenerate though so you have to do a lot of damage fast if you want to kill them easily. as for weapons not being able to hit them. any +5 or more enchanted weapon should be able to hit anything in the game unless something is immune to the type of damage it does. slaads are not immune to slashing or piercing so a sword should work fine. i have killed them easily with a customised sword from the drow guy that customises things for you, usually use a +5 or more longsword with keen, haste, acid damage, true seeing and magic resistance if playing as a fighting character and not had trouble with hitting or damaging anything in chapter 3 of HOTU. if i play as a sorceror i just use isaacs greater missiles to great effect as they do a lot of damage fast, providing you beat the creature's spell resistance. just use a magic weapon and rely on your character's strengths rather than weaknesses and it should be easy.
Spoiler: also, i'm a bit confused as to where you are in the game. there is no slaad in the puzzler area, which is the puzzle room, just lots of puzzlers etc. and a big demon guy.

what is the slaad actually called? is it a death slaad? also i cannot help you unless you tell me which weapons you are trying to use as i don't know what you have already tried. also what is the strength of your character? have you tried using potions like bulls strength to increase the damage that you can do, and use potions of speed to increase your attacks. plus if you have feats like power attack try using them as your attack rate should be high enough by now to make them very effective in battles.

still up against the slaad in the puzzlers quarters
i am in hotu, battling the guardian of the realm at the end of the puzzlers rooms
i am an elf (barbarian 13, bard 5, cleric 8), with AC44, and the crossbow of lightning with eternal bolts, +6 i believe (i normally use an axe of culling with all the magical enhancements that were available from the blacksmith on the surface but it has no effect on this opponent)
i am in the puzzling rooms fighting the black slaad who is the guardian of the realm trying to bar me from reaching the knower of places
aribeth is AC42 and has her usual sword and armour plus magical clothing and accessories to raise her AC
we both have regeneration, mine is very good
so far i have been battling the slaad for 8 or 9 human hours (saving and returning over a number of days). i have used up about 6 summoned creatures of grade VIII and IX and have regenerated aribeth about 15 or 16 times, plus used up about 13 vials of healing potion
the onslaught has been constant, whether from the summoned elementals, aribeth or myself. i am fighting mostly with the wand of missiles (and have so far used up two wands, about 100 shots), any other weapon misses on the majority of attempts due to the slaads abitlity to give the impression it is several feet to the left or right of its actual position. this is the crux of the problem. we have managed to reduce the slaad's status to barely injured on three occasions, but eventually aribeth is killed, i have to regenerate her, and the slaad regenerates itself in that time
i have tried everything i can to reduce the slaads regenerative powers to no avail. i have looked everywhere for an alternative weapon but think i must have already found it and sold it to the djinn in my bag, thinking it was of little consequence. i used up my day's access to the djinn when i was selling all the stuff i got from the big battle at the entrance to these realms and then again just before the battle with the guardian. i have been battling for well over 24 hours in game terms but the djinn is still not accessible
so, will the djinn become available again before the battle ends or can i do anything to slow down the guardian's regenerative powers or ensure that the majority of hits from aribeth and myself fall true?
sorry about the length of this but i felt i needed to present all the facts. i have had tough battles before, but this is so many times more difficult than the last one that i am thinking i either missed something mighty useful or that i have to save my character and start again from the very beginning to get the greater AC (which is just too boring a proposition to contemplate)
or is there a cheat? right now, i have as much pride as i do patience

I can't help you with the Slaad itself, but the Djinn problem: the Djinn is only accessible three times per day - in this case, in NWN time counting, after you rested. If you can, leave the area where you're fighting the Slaad and, if the creature doesn't follow you, rest. That should make the Djinn available again.

that is such good advice. since the pair of us have had regenerative powers i have completely forgotten to take a rest
time to reach for the grappling hand and find sanctuary

Also - take a look at the Slaad's stats. It should tell you what immunities it has and what you can use to kill it. I seem to remember that most monsters had a weakness toward acid damage.
As far as cheats go... if nothing works? Use the console command dm_givelevel and set the Slaad's level down to 1.

this one's weakness seemed to be lightning, but it was ranked impossible, and practically was
ahhh, past tense, i hear you say. yes, indeed. i did as you suggested and rested, then opened the djinn's store; but he charges 15 times the amount he buys stuff for! i tried to sell as much as i could for an astral blade +8 or something equally funky, but needed another half million gold pieces to get anything halfway decent. fortunately, the simple task of going through my bits to see whether i wanted to sell or keep them allowed me the space to rethink my strategy, so i swapped a couple of magical items with aribeth, gave her my crossbow and told her to fight at a distance from me and got the job done without much ado
fighting wave upon wave of demon monsters is a breeze by comparison. we've barely been scratched. it just doesn't seen right somehow
as for using the console, i'm not entirely sure how i would bring it up. i'll use the commands i've used in other games

Well. I could tell you the tale of a Level 40 Elf wizard who knew all Epic Spells and was quite the conqueror, but was ultimately flattened by one measly Balor Lord summoned by no other than her loyal and friendly henchman, Dorna Trapspringer.
Anyway, glad you got that sorted out.
As for the console, here's how it works for me:
in the chat bar above the quicklink bar, type:
##DebugMode=1
##dm_givegold 1000000 ( for example )
* click on your character with the mouse to give money*
##DebugMode=0
If you search the forum for other posts concerning the console, there are more ways than one to bring it up. This is just the way I find easiest.

more useful tips, thankyou
the irony is, my character was loaded in round two, but i spent it all at the blacksmith's on the surface getting all the magical attributes i could for my weapon, the same weapon as was absolutely useless against the slaad
the balor lords are dropping like flies though, it's suchh an odd game in that way. i should play it through again with a totally different type of character
