Dear fellow SYM:ers,
In about 12 hours, I, Silur (my husband) and Dottie will leave for a trip to West Africa. We will go through Morocco and West Sahara and then pick up a friend in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania. Then we will go to the border between Mauritania and Mali to visit our friend's family (they are nomads, so we are not exactly sure where to find them

). After that, the idea is to travel around in Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal and perhaps Gambia. We expect this to take about 6 weeks.
So, I won't be posting for a while, but I will hopefully bring back some nice photos! Have a good time all of you, and enjoy the winter holidays!

@Tony: I'm sure it's going to be a great trip, I really enjoy being with the "Sahariennes", (the nomad people in Sahara) and I really long to explore some regions I haven't visited before. West Africa is a very interesting place also culturally, there are many tribes who are still relatively unaffected by European or Arabic influence. I really look forward to seeing the cliff villages of the Dogon people in the mountains between Mali and Burkina Faso!
Dottie have bought 14 dia positive film rolls for me
@ch85us2001: ROFL, Fable is still around
@Oopah: Yes, Dottie is a friend of I and my husband! And yes, it is amazing

Enjoy, CE! Keep Dottie away from those nomadic women. They'll probably want his children for the tribe.

I command Fable and Vondondu to write whatever I would have written in any serious threads that might surface in my absence.
@Fable: I wouldn't have any problems with that. It would be perfectly alright, I assure you.
You know Dottie?????
Hrmpf... Why is that so strange? :/

Have fun on the trip, and I have a question... is Dottie really a snail in real life?

.
Good luck.

Of course I am. But not quite the snail in my avatar, the correct name of my species is Helix pomatia.
Some people would say I'm not a snail at all, but a Trypanosoma Cruzi, but that's nonsense.
@Hill: I'm happy for the edit.

CE, Silur, and Dottie, I wish you well on your adventure. Be safe, and have a great time!
And Dottie, I will post in some of the serious message threads in your absence, but I could certainly never replace you.

Well, I am the internet weenie here.
Don;t tell me you believe me! That's the cardinal rule here: Don't give Hill a chance... (OK, not the cardinal one, but an important one

)

Sounds marvellous, CE, it really does. I've always wanted to travel the world, particularly Africa and New Zealand, but as of yet, I haven't found the time. No worries, though, I got plenty of years left.
I wish you, Dottie, and Silur a great time. Please keep us updated as often as you can; I would really like to hear some of your travel stories.
Ohh, and don't get lost while searching for those nomads. It would be an incredible shame if the desert swallowed you whole.
