My mage just learned improved haste...is it possible to combine the effects of that spell with the boots of speed? (In other words, would the character move even faster?)

thx alot in advance,

Avacon

Since Boots of Speed count as regular haste, (minus the attack bonus), it is not cumulative with improved haste and it's effects.

If I'm not mistaken, Baldurdash has a patch that makes Boots of Speed work the way they should (no Haste, just extra movement).

No worries. :) Though the patches only fix bugs that make the game different from what it was meant to be. They do not alter gameplay in any other way (no extras, add-ons, tweaks or anything, just bug fixes). Actually, I'd even go as far as to say that BG is nearer to "normal" with the patches. :D

According to Baldurdash, the way the Boots were originally implemented was that they permanently Haste you, but remove one of your attacks. This led to various problems (not backstabbing due to doubled Initiative etc.).
