I have come across three editors, which have been recommended throughout this Forum:
 1. Hedit
 2. Hex Workshop
 3. DLedit1
As I don't use Hex Editors, the members who appear to be the more versed of the lot in the use of them would be Kel and Indominae.

I didn't ask this question until I had successfully
completed the game unaided. You must not be tentative
or fearful of being poisoned when attacking. Don't stand
in one place. Change location frequently. Charge them
one at a time. Staying on the porch of the hut will only
see you overwhelmed. The wolves, dead warriors,
thieves, snakes and rats will congregate in increasing
numbers.

Centurion, that's true. They will eventually converge in on you.

However, if you have a bow, you can easily take them out whilst staying on that porch / steps, since the monsters can't climb up on to the porch.

That way, in time you will be able to level up a bit, and that will help you survive a little longer, so that you can enjoy the game.

As I mentioned in another post, I don't use hex editors. And while I agree that you should at least give the game a chance before throwing out the baby with all the bath water, I adressed the question raised. I don't think it'd have been appropriate chastising this member by hurling excommunication and anathema at him for wanting to use the hex editor, albeit for what I may consider a dubious reason.

You did, though, bring up an interesting point regarding character editors and their use. I am going to post a thread addressing this.

I suppose my words did read harshly. It was not my intent
to appear judgemental. For certain, editors add enjoyment
to the game for experienced players. I know this game can
be very frustrating. Therefore, I understand the motive for
requesting info. on editors. My message to first time
players is don't give up. Play the game through at least
once before experimenting with editors.

Centurion,

Don't worry, mate - I read between the lines. What you said was in no way judgmental, or harsh. In fact, I couldn't agree more with what you said!

I've posted a thread that further discusses the valid points you've brought up in this post.

Thanks for understanding.

P.S.

I'd like to hear from you privately about your business.

It would be much easier for you if you just want to boost your charater to try a trainer, if you dont know about hex editing( I am guessing you dont since you didnt know an editor).
Here is a list of trainers the Ironduke version even works on 1.4 german version, if you have modded with English translation, you will be good to go.

Dont listen to anyone telling you how to enjoy your game, if you want to reduce the frustration you having with this great game (but horribly unbalanced) dont think twice about it or anyone else.
Try also setting to easy and less spawn, you proabably already tried but just incase. :)
