Everytime I use the bow, even from a far distance, the enemy still sees me. What is the general distance where you can kill someone without rallying up the other bandits?

It really depends on your Guile level. I usually find that if you stand at the distance where you can just see them (before they disappear due to graphics in the game) you can shoot them in the head. Sometimes their fellows won't see you, but they'll just walk casually in your direction.
I really comes down to how far you can get, rather than how closeyou can get.

It's not you they see, it's their companion being killed out of nowhere. As such, if they are looking when you kill one, the rest will try to find out who killed him.

As mentioned above, if you are good, they will walk for a bit, but when they spot you, they start running.

I have been practising and have now taken advantage of the barely visible people, taking their heads off hehe thanks guys.
