Edwin (SPOILERS)

With the nether scrolls, Edwin has managed to turn himself into a girl. Which wouldn't be a problem except he no longer is part of the group. I can't even talk to him/her to get "them" to join. What do I do. The game will not let me proceed without him.

Per the sticky thread at the top of the page, put a SPOILER designation in front of a thread like this--it gives away some really neat plot info, and we regularly get complaints when that happens. I'll do it this time.

Concerning Edwin: have you installed the latest official patch?

patch

NO, I have not. Where can I get it?

Try here. You'll need a different patch if you're running ToB, though, so don't install this one if that's the case.

I tried the patch but they said since I had TOB I didn't need a patch. But what do I do about Edwin. HE is no good to me standing in his little urple circle. I tried reversing the magic. It did no good. I even had someone slap him to see it that would do the trick. No result.

As I mentioned above, if you have ToB, you'll need a different patch. Google is your friend: try here. I don't guarantee it will fix the problem, but it might--and in any case, it will definitely fix other problems that crop up in the game.

By the way, how did Edwin become separated from the group? Did you simply drop him? Because I don't know if he will rejoin after you do that to him, while he's...indisposed. You may have to change a variable on him, and for that, you'll need the expertise of someone else, here.

edwin spoiler

Once he truned into a girl he was no longer part of the group. However, I finally got him/her to talk to me and he is with us now. And frankly it is hilarrious. I almost hate to change him back.

Edwin doesn't usually leave, so you must have said something. Typically, he's stayed a part of any group I've played. Be sure to have each of your female group NPCs click on the pick-up "artist" in the Inn. Only save first, because Edwin's reaction is a delight.
