You can always use the CLUAConsole to remake that equipment. But no, you can't keep the equipment if you just do a plain import.

Pause the game (press spacebar) while the screen is still black at the beginning, this will bring up the normal screen interface (you have to time this right)... go to your character's inventory and drop all your equipment on the floor... then unpause... the movie sequence will then play after which you can just pick up the stuff you dropped on the floor... hope this helps!
