ranger question

Lost my programs drive (don't ask it's a mystery even to me) recovered most of the data but savegames seem corrupted hence starting over. I want to play a rogue again and I'm considering multiclassing with a ranger (I'm mostly interested in the favored enemy bonuses and melee abilities). My question is this: Rangers get dual wield, which is sort of but not two weapon attack, correct. So can a ranger buy true two weapon attack to open up the improved two weapon attack?

Any character can attempt to dual-wield, its an innate game ability. What Rangers get is ambidexterity and two-weapon fighting at first level, and improved two-weapon fighting at 9th level. No need to waste any feets getting any of them, so you can focus on other things instead.

But if I recall right, then only while wearing medium and light armor.

Actually, it's with light (or possibly no) armor. Just checked the game itself on that.

The light or no armor restriction is not a problem as it fits in with my halfling rogues abilities and necessities for dexterity bonus. Excellent so they do get improved at level nine. That solves that problem.
