So Many Vampires in UPatch 1.8 (possible SPOILERS?)

So I've installed the patch and it all worked fine. But, at one occasion, I found a lone guy behind Confession, which was just nice, cos I was thirsty. :) I got behind him and tried to feed. But, surprise surprise! "Feed attempt failed" and the guy started looking around babbling "Who's there?" and such. I scratched my head and tried again. No luck! Since I was just playing Toreador, I activated Auspex. Guess what? The guy had that dark purple aura! WTF? A VAMPIRE? Huh... Then I looked at other people in front of confession, they were all vampires! And so were many people on the streets.

Another trouble happened when I tried to get a free snack on Arthur Kilpatrick which I used to do from time to time. Again failure, and he started running and cowering around. Criminal violation, and now the police started to nag me.

And the final frustration happened when I tried to jump that guy that goes take a leak behind Asylum from time to time. Y'know, the usual easy snack. Now you can guess what happened again? This was becoming quite frustrating by now! And again, you can guess what aura checking showed when I looked around the streets?

I don't understand what's the purpose of this, but it certainly is annoying. Ok, I could perhaps understand Arthur was made this way as a kind of protection of plot related NPC's, although I don't find it necessary, but what's the purpose of 'vampirizing' people on the streets, it's risky enough to hunt on the streets, I really don't need this menace too!

What IS going on here?

Did you start this game with the official 1.2 patch installed then install 1.8 on top of it? If so, try starting a new game and see if you experience the same problem. I've experienced some strange things when I start a new game on one version then upgrade to a later one. Even stranger happened when I started a game on 1.8 and tried to go back to 1.2.

If this isn't the case, then I'm not sure what's going on. I don't think the people who develop these unofficial patches would turn the majority of LA's citizens into vampires just keep you from getting free meals. Then again, I wouldn't expect people to put anti-cheating code into a single player game either ( I mean, who the hell cares if I want to cheat when I'm the only player in the game?), but the unofficial patches have some of that embedded in them as well.

You could try patching to 1.9 and see if that helps. If all else fails, reinstall and go back to the official patch.

He he he, a vampire taking a pee behind a club would be quite the horrifying sight indeed... Seeing as all their body fluids have been replaced with the only fluid they acept into their body any more... Blood.

ICK!

Yes, I've installed the patch in the middle of the game. I'll see what happens when I start the next game...

So it seems I'm not the only one who has noticed this :)

It might be that your old save was corrupted by the change of the version. Have you made a clean reinstall and updating ?

Well, considering that this is the FIRST unofficial patch I installed on top of official release and patch, I believe this is considered a clean install. So if I start a fresh game in this state, I suppose it should work as intended...
