general questions

can someone explain what sort of damage an enemy lightsabre does to you. is it electrical, ion or sonic?
do the lightning gloves and distruption gloves add damage if you're armed or just unarmed?

Neither. It's energy damage.
do the lightning gloves and distruption gloves add damage if you're armed or just unarmed?
Can't say one way or the other because I never used them, but comon logic would be that it apply only when you fight unarmed.

the gloves are for unarmed combat if i remember right. also, the best thing to protect from lightsabe damage are energy shields (the more powerful shield the better). do not bother using melee shields when faced with lightsabers.

ok call me sceptical but who on earth plays this game unarmed? anyone ever tried? i might try it one day and see how far i get....

i have some of my other jedi unarmed at times until i find a lightsaber for them but never my main character. just find that with the unarmed combat skills jedi get they can actually do more damage sometimes than they can with a vibroblade. usually i have them on ranged and have unarmed as their melee switch for when bad guys get too close. discovered today as well that not all qualities of gloves for unarmed fighting are strictly unarmed only. for example i have some gloves that give +2 str and stun when unarmed and you keep the +2 str bonus even if you equip a lightsaber, although not the stun.

You can upgrade you saber in ways that cause it to have other kinds of damage too (ion, cold etc). Does anyone know if any of the enemies in the game have sabers which have such properties (maybe some of the bosses?)

If I remember correctly, some of your enemies do have items, perhaps lightsabers included, that have passive damage abilities. Most of the time, it is the prominent antagonists in the game, who when you kill, drop personal items with special addons added on by the previous owner.
