Hey, sorry probably the wrong place to ask but ive started a game on BG1 using BGtutu, basically one of my characters is a thief, who i wanted to dual class into a mage at next level. E.g. 1 level in both, and so on.
When it got to his level up i could only press level up... am i mixing BG up with 3rd edition IWDII rules?

in the original baldurs gate, only certain races can dual class.

You're right: it is in the wrong place. We have a forum for this. Moved.

yeh sorry, it was becuase it was BGtutu (that uses the BG2 engine), so i guess you understand where i went wrong.
But he is human, i thought humans can multi-class at anytime

Does he have 15 Dex and 17 int? That's a requirement for a rogue to dual into a mage.
Also, I think you might need to have leveled up once in your first class before you can dual to another. Not too sure about that last one though.

You need to be level 2 before you can dual into a mage, you need to be human, and you need to have a high intelligence. You may want to keep items from quests that youve done and havent turned in yet so that when you level up you can get the experience from the quest for your mage and unlock your thief abilities. You should think about saving up money to get a robe of the arch magi from thalantyr in high hedge the extra ac/mr will help a lot.
But he is human, i thought humans can multi-class at anytime
Just to be complete: only humans can dualclass but they can't multiclass. All other races can multiclass but not dualclass.

cheers guys.
Got another problem though. Basically i just did the nashkell mines, but with only one person surviving i could only take bits of items. So, having read them i did not take the two letters that Mekrath (something like that) recieves from Tazok. When i finally got back to naskell the mayor states that i need evidence - bummer.
Anyway i went back there but the notes have both gone, unfortunatly i must have put them on the floor not back in his chest.
I even tried to open up Shadowkeeper to try and add them using Item Browser... but SK uses the BG2 databse, so obviously there is nothing with BG1 items!
I even thought that i could go back to a previous save, go through it AGAIN and then export the character with the letters, then reload this game, import that character, take the letters and then get rid of that person... However, i dont have a previous save! Any ideas guys?

is there a code to spawn them? i have never tried spawning items in baldurs gate so don't know how to do it but it might be worth having a look on google to see if there are any sites that might tell you how to get items to spawn into bg. just an idea though and sorry i can't be anymore help than that.

Download Gatekeeper, it's Shadowkeeper for BG1. You can find it on the same site as SK.

problem with this is that gatekeeper wont read the save file, ive even copied it from the BG2mpsave folder into BG1, but when it loads it says it is probably corrupted and wont save it.
Any ideas?

****, so near yet so far.
Basically i started a new game on BG1, without BGtutu. Then, i saved that and opened it up in gatekeeper, i added every letter on the game and saved it. Opened up BG1 and finaly found the two letters, so i exported that character and quitted. Opened up the relevent files and placed that export from the BG1 characters folder to the BG2 characters folder. Opened up BGtutu, opened my multiplayer game, imported that character and loaded the game.
Checked his inventory and there was two letters! Both were totally blank, i even went to Nashkell just incase, but alas, he said he still required evidence.
Seriously guys, anymore ideas cos im stumped?

whayhay, finally got it.
Ok, i oepened up near infinity, changed the path to BG1 and found the two letters, saved them again into BG1 Override folder. Copied them from that folder into the BG2 override folder, opened up Shadowkeeper and assigned the two new letters from the override folder into one of my characters inventories.
THIS time it had text, and indeed it has worked. Thanks for all your help anyway guys!
