Is it possible that i can get Nalia in my BGtutu (BG1) game? basically i have 5 people at the minute all around level 2/3. However as my 5th character id really like Nalia (with all her sounds/pictures), what would be the best way of doing this?

Thing is in BG2 she has Thief Level 4 aswell, so id need to incorporate that somehow.

Thanks.

Nalia is not in BG1, wheither you've installed BGTutu or not.

no, exporting the character from BG2, and cos im on a multiplayer game, simply importing her. Yeah?

The only way I can think of to get Nalia in BG1 (short of a mod) is to start a multiplayer game and create a character with her soundset and other attributes. I don't know if you can give her the family ring, but since it's a BG2 item and BG1Tutu uses the BG2 engine, I don't see why not.

There are mods for BG2 that add BG1 NPCs to the game (Alora, Kivan, etc.). From what I understand, they are NPCs with a "joinable" flag and a relatively simple AI script. (The soundsets are easy; the dialogue trees might be complicated.) Maybe you can politely ask a mod-writer to create something for you. But don't expect a lot.

I don't think you can export the NPCs who are in your party. Even if you could export them, they wouldn't have the same soundset and AI script when you imported them into a new game.

well that was my only problem, i figured out a way i could easily get her in the game (attributes wise) and i can give her her ring blah blah, and get the experience and mage/thief things right.

The only thing i wasnt at all sure on was converting the sound files from BG2 to BG1, or more to the point, [deleted[ Surely that would be the only thing?

Watch the language, Trodtrod. Buck's site rules specifically rule out profanity. It's not like he or I don't use it, but there's a campaign on now in the US to get sites that offend the virgin ears of some people shut down. Some hosts have agreed. You need to abide by these rules, so GameBanshee will be around in still another 6 years. -Flabe

You can use BG2 soundsets in BG1. If you do it manually, you have to 1) extract Nalia's sound files with a resource vierwer such as Near Infinity and 2) move each file to a new directory before it is deleted (when you open a new sound file, the previous one is deleted, unless there's some way to override that action). Then you have to 3) consult the BG1 soundset list to identify the name you have to give to each sound. For example, a character's battle cry ("Go for the eyes, Boo!") has a specific letter and number in the name. Then you have to 4) rename each sound file and 5) put them all in your soundset directory so you can assign those sounds to your own characters. It's not hard, but it's tedious and time-consuming.

Since BG1Tutu uses the BG2 engine, it's possible that the soundsets use the BG2 naming conventions. If that's the case, it might not be necessary to rename Nalia's sound files. You can probably download them somewhere instead of having to extract them yourself. That would make things a whole lot easier.

I once created a soundset for BG2 based on the voice of the Transcendental One from Planescape: Torment. It wasn't always easy to decide which sound file to use for each situation. For example, the Transcendental One never said anything about setting a trap or hiding in shadows. When Yoshimo hides in shadows, he says, "All the world is blind to my passing," but TTO is limited to remarks such as, "I built this fortress while you were dying in bar fights and contracting diseases in the brothels of Sigil. There is NOTHING I cannot do," or, "I can forge planes with my powers. I can unmake YOU." So the choices are limited, but they're pretty cool. :)
