Asylum dungeon three

I am confused. When I left the second dungeon from the bottom in Spellhold I was immediately put through a series of tests to verify my sanity. I was expecting to find myself in another dungeon (dungeon 3), but instead I was released, and accosted by Saemon who told me to release some prisoners. Have I stupidly missed a dungeon? Can I go back?

No, you're fine. That's what's supposed to happen. Here's something to try: Go face Irenicus without freeing the slaves (just save before you do it!). What happens is rather interesting (at least to me). But it's bad, so save first.

Thanks, I did that, and I have now 'defeated' Irenicus. But I still don't know how to get to dungeon level three. I explored two dungeons, then got spirited away to the sanity test, then was released into the asylum proper, where I released the prisoners. But I missed a dungeon. Did I screw up or can I go back?

Did you take a look at the walkthrough on this site? Just check there and make sure you did everything that it describes. I looked at it, and I remembered doing all that stuff, but it was all messed up in my head Image I don't think you CAN miss a dungeon. You can elect not to do some of the subquests within each dungeon, but I think you have to go through all of them.
