Character Development Question

I still have a problem in understanding the way the eastern classes work in character development..
a) to become a samurai i have to be a member in the fighters guild but must not
have obtained a second tier class like knight or marauder .
The same is true for celestial guild -> monk
mages guild -> Shugenja
guild of mystery -> Budoka
Am I right ?
b) is it possible to have to second tier classes in the eastern houses ?
f.e. : I start as an adept, complete the guild quest in fargrove.
In Arindale I complete the "restore honor" quest and I should be able
to become a monk.
Afterwards I join the fighter guild, then returning to the house of the
tiger, can I become a samurai `?
c) in the classes database it says, that hatamoto has inflict wounds as
diabolic skill. I wonder if this is true since the samurai already got that skill.
Is it possible that the hatamoto class gets critical strike instead ?
Thanx for reading
I hope someone can help me out..

I hope I can help a little bit.
a)You cannot mix samurai/marauder, I tried it by save/reloads. If you chose knight or marauder from the fighter's guild then samurai or imperial will not be available
b)I did on one time through use a fighter/monk type character so yes you can mix eastern with your melee class it is just a matter of choosing it over the regular selections like celestial, paladin, etc.
Think of it like this: You make it to Arindale and you joined the fighter and mage guilds, you then get the option to advance in the ACTUAL fighter's guild or run across the road to the eastern house and advance there. Using save/reload to find out, I noticed that if I chose to quest for a tier in the fighter's guild, only magic using (monk, shugenja) was available in eastern houses depending on if I joined the celestial or mage guild. The game knows which guilds you've joined in other words. I tried to take a budokan along with fighter for fighter/rogue in another experiment and because I did not join rogue guild it was not an option for budokan.
I have not tried and all eastern character because every time I went to house of tiger I had already chosen to quest for a next tier.
c) The samurai gets inflict wounds and hatamoto gets critical strike from what I understand, very formidable opponent :mischief: It may be costly to advance those skills but I think it is a good mixture.
I hope that helps, I play the fighter classes mostly and have yet to try all eastern classes. It should be possible but maybe someone could help you better than I can.

thanx Khadus,
it helped a bit
My initiate idea was to play the following :
adept/monk/shaolei master
fighter/samurai
Because I wasn´t shure how the system exactly works I did start as an adept. Once in Fargrove, I went to the temple and did the initiation quest (probably I didn´t need to) Then I joined the fighters guild.
When I came to Arindale, I copleted the "restore honor" quest.
I have talked to everyone in Arindale, but in the house of tiger, they offer my nothing !
I didn´t start another tier 2 call, because I didn´t know how that would interact with my choices in the house of the tiger ..
maybe its a buck.. i don´t know..

This isn't going to work. You can't have two second tier Eastern House classes.

I'm not sure what the problem is here. I thought you only needed the Tiger quest to start getting class offerings from the Eastern Houses. Did you do the Dragon quest as well?

I have the quest for the house of the dragon, I have the egg, but I can´t complete it because in the house of the dragon there is no option to end the quest. It seems like the eastern houses doesnt want me to join them .

You turn in the egg to the guy in the House of the Tiger.

The only two teirs you could join in same game and are the same are mages with a girl -
1) Mage Guild.
2) Sister Hood
So if you want to be only a mage, you should want a girl (human female / elf female) altough I myself don't like how DL made the girls so fat

even in the house of the dragon, I can´t return the egg.
I´m triying to start over again.
My goal now ist to become the following in that order :
adept-paladin-fighter-samurai-hatamoto
Is that supposed to work ?
thx

That should work, provided you can figure out why the Eastern Houses didn't like you.

well i´m going to ask them ..
Should I join the fighters guild before I become a Paladin ?

It may be more convenient to join the fighter's guild since you'll be in Fargrove already, but it shouldn't really matter.
As for your Eastern House troubles, at the House of the Tiger, did you accept the quest for the way of the Tiger? If you haven't accepted that quest, I don't think you get the option for giving them the egg.

Not being able to return the egg sounds like you don't have the quest to get the egg in the first place. the only other option would be you already returned it. This is definitly not a known bug. There a a few other places in the game where players have skipped a part of the game sequence and found it didn't work, for example, taking the vial of blood to the vale of ruin before Vartugg told you to or going to the Harrow ruins before the barmaid tells you to meet Mara there. But maybe you found a new way to break the quest. D

There is another options gg... you said you took it to the Dragon House ? (Eastern Houses in other words) ?
You should take it to the House Of The Tiger... not to the Dragon House

thanx for the replies
)
I started my character all over and i´m exactly in front of arindale right now,
unfortunatly I became to tired yesterday to enter the town
My plan is the following :
1. I will enter the fighters guild to deliver the sword
2. I will get the egg from the fire drakes und return it to the tigers house..
3. after completing the honor restoration quest, I hopefully get the option for
the samurai qualification quest..
I´ll let you know
Maybe somewhere inbetween ,when my stats are high enough, I´ll return to fargrove and complete the paladin thing !!

ok..
right now it seems to work !
I have returned the egg to the house of the tiger and right after they offer me to become samurai, monk and imperial
=)
Don´t know what went wrong the first time, but I´m sure that I dind´t return the egg with my previous character.
Maybe I came there and agreed to accept the way of the tiger and afterwards got the egg so I wasn´t able to return it to them anymore..
At least I guess I know now what kind of classes can mix with each other
One last thing about the sisterhood :
Can you join them with 2 basic classes ?
A friend is now mage, sorcerer and enchantress..
Did he waste the learning bonus of a second basic class ?
thx for your help already

He should go and get a second first tier class. The bonuses are important. D

lol
as I said, I was able to become a samurai, but my stats were to low when I came to arindale.. So I went to the trial of the elders.
When I came out, I am sent to Ulm.
I passed by the house of the tiger, cause I have all the samurai stats inbetween. Now I can´t join them anymore
The only dialog options I have is to choose between "yes, I follow the way of the tiger.." and "no I don´t ")
Maybe I can join when I return the agalia, but I don´t expect to

Look at the top right of your stats page (press C). What icons do you have? I would guess that you either accepted 2 second tier classes already or you told the eastern house no thanks and don't ask again. D

i didn´t..
i just went into the temple trial, for gathering the skillpoints i need.
I´ve been a figher and an adept..
No more conversation options..

now I have to try to go for deathlord, but I would have prefered critical strike
