Is the game worth it?

Alrighty, I'm thinkin about gettin this game, however I'm not so sure it's gonna be worth my money.
Currently, I'm playing a game of Vampire: The Requiem with my brother and friends, and I'm used to those rules, so here are some questions.
Are the rules much different, or near the same with some modifications?
Is the game good with graphics?
Is it an RPG, or some other type?
Does it include the many various covenants and clans, I prefer a Mekhet of the Invictus or a Bruja if possible, but I don't know what they cover. (I can prolly look this one up, so no worries.)
Is it easy to obtain a haven? Or is that something that's going to be a pain?
Some other questions might spur, but for now, those are prolly the best I can think of now.

firstly, i'd highly recommend this game - its one of my favourites. it has a lot of bugs, but most are fixed by the official and unofficial patches. the graphics are not state of the art but they are not really bad either. i'd say they are pretty good. as for rpg, its sort of an action rpg i think. there are a lot of roleplaying stuff, especially early on, but the latter stages are more combat orientated. it has a great story - one of the best in rpgs in my opinion. as for clans, you have brujah, gangrel, toreador, tremere, malkavian, nosferatu and ventrue. the control are pretty easy to get the hang of, and i like the way the disciplines are set up so they are reasonably easy to use in fights etc. as for the rules, i've never played any of the p&p stuff etc. so i can't help you there, but everything is explained in the tutorial at the start and i've never had any trouble understanding what is happening in situations and why.
lastly, i managed to pick it up for £10 a year ago which is a bargain for it in my view as it really is a great game to play if you don't let the odd bug here and there frustrate you. if you can get it cheap then i'd definately recommend that you play it
edit: forgot about the havens - you get one right at the start, then a second is available about halfway through provided you are nice to the right people (won't say anymore cos it will give away parts of the story if i do)

mr_sir covered everything I think. It is a great game and if you snag a copy at Best Buy you get a copy of the soundtrack too which I really enjoyed. I played through the entire game twice and would play through it a few more times in a heartbeat. The bugs are irritating when they crop up, but there isn't anything devastating there and if you're a save-a-holic like I am it won't set you back more then a couple minutes when the occasional bug does crop up.

If you are playing Requiem, then you have a basic understanding of the Kindred in this world/game, but this game is based on the old world set out by White Wolf, that was The Masquerade. The new rules, along with the clans and covenants are not introduced in the way you know from Requiem.
Regardless, I have played both RPG versions, and I have played this Bloodlines game, and I can say without a doubt it is one of the more enjoyable computer games I have owned in many years.

Posts removed. If you want to say Bloodlines is worth the cash or isn't, please give your reasons. Anything else doesn't help the thread creator, and it looks a lot like post hiking.

For me, yes, it was worth every euro, several times.
It is a RPG, with plot and story and character development, but combat is of the 'realtime', FPS type, not turn/round based.
It's not like I've played that many RPG's, but I think it's the best one I've played and though there might be a few NWN modules that can compete, they tend to be a bit shorter.
I can't tell about the rule differences and graphics come with a different priority, I rather have a great story in a text-based rpg then a bad story with fantabulous graphics. But I thought they were decent enough - some things are quircky and annoying, but likely because of the underlying engine - and used very well to set the mood.

Get it !!!
It's worth it, I swear....no really. Playing the different Clans, and different endings alone is more fun then playing some other games out there. Especially since the scenery, mood and story is awesome, the soundtrack is doing the rest.

Well, looking over the walkthrough a bit, I noticed that there are only 6 main attributes instead of the normal 9, and there are only clans.
I do like Nosferatu and Gangrel, so I can try them out, as well as the whole discipline thing looks basic. I think I might try this game out then.

Everyone needs to play through at least once as a Malkavian. The dialogue is not to be missed.

It worths your money. I never played Vampire's p&p, but it's an awesome game with a lot of action (more than other rpg's games). However there's also a good 'trama'... and it's cool to start to know who you can trust and who you cannot. A good mix of action and the strongest point of story-tellers rpgs: dialogues and 'diplomacy' as backbone of the game.

Especially considering that it's going into the lower prices now....I saw it at Amazon.de for 28 € and at Amazon.com for 20 $

Bah. Try searching on "installation" in this forum, and if nothing comes up, start a new thread about installation woes. I'll move it with a redirect to Tech Support. That way you should be able to get two groups of replies for one.
