Haven't heard of this before

For some reason, my present game has decided to hang when I try to enter the Santa Monica haven. It doesn't crash, it doesn't report an error, it doesn't do anything. Activate the door, the progress bar makes it about 40% of the way across, and it stops. Period. The only way to recover is to restart the computer.

I have already re-installed from scratch, so that's not the solution.

Config: Athlon 64 x 2 3 Ghz dual core w/ 1 Gb Ram, Radeon Express 200 series w/ 256 Mb Ram. Windows 32-bit Multi-media Edition, current build, patched to current levels. Video driver has no upgrades available. VTMB patched to 1.2.

So. Any ideas?

Do you mod your game at all or listen to the ingame music or sound effects in Windows Media Player?

mine does that every now and then - the load bar just kind of stops. it only happens once or twice per entire run through though (and in different areas) and its usually solved by a full restart. i did have one prob with another game once, in that it crashed and froze and i had to shut down my pc. while doing so, one of the load files or something got damaged and it would not load areas anymore. i scanned my drives on my pc and repaired them (using the inbuilt function on windows - the hard drive scanning thing) and it worked perfectly after that (didn't even have to reinstall the game - i tried this first and it didn't solve the problem). its prob not the same prob but it might be worth trying.

Mods: None. Full vanilla. I haven't even opened up the game folder except to dike it out completely before the re-install. I gouged out the registry, too.

It also happens every time. The most recent effort (after I drifted off and did a bunch of other stuff without going back) went about 60% before it froze. I can reproduce the problem faithfully ten times in ten minutes, but I don't have source code.

You can try cross posting this on PlanetVampire and seeing if someone there can help.

No Point

Not worth the effort. I finished Snuff 2 and gave the tape to Isaac, and then went back and Isaac didn't have the tape, and I hadn't finished the quest. I also had already finished the Gargoyle quest, and it wasn't done either, even though I had the haven. The game is totally messed up. There is no way to fix this short of starting a new game.

That's terrible. I wonder what fouled up the game so badly.
