I think I have finished up most everything worth doing in chapter three except some stuff with the harpers. I did the little mini quest for Xzar to free Montaran (poor Xzar ). Then the girl from the Harpers came and got Jaheira and she says "I'll be back shortly" or something.

My question is how long is "shortly"? Should I wander around the city or stay right there where she left me or...???

Find you a tavern and sleep and she should show right back up.

Go on your regular business, but I recommend you stay out in the open. I don't think the trigger will go off for her to get back when you're inside something. Short visits to shops etc... are acceptable of course, but a trip into a dungeon (like Fierkraags Lair, or the Underdark) might take too long.
