Help with temple of diseased

It was very early and I was very tired so I could have missed something but I couldn't progress through this part. I've got past all the shadows, ghasts, mummys etc but when I get to the temple with the diseased fellows the are stopping me from killing the winged demon inside the temple!!! Im stuck, can anyone give me a clue please?

Just insist that you want to help them and they'll eventually allow you to go into the temple.

AAAAArgh heal it!!!how are you supposed to realise that!! Did anyone here actually figure that part out for themselves? quite clever really....
