Fire Drakes--Dealing With The Pain--Plus DLCE 1.5 Trainer Progress??

With a little bit of luck can I get a Fire Drake egg from one of the nests without killing a single drake?
I have finished the area except one of the drake's is flying around the north end of Arindale.
I wouldn't mind killing them except that so far that has been totally unsuccessful doing. I need serious strategy again.
Any progress on a DLCE 1.5 Trainer? I could use a little god mode now.
On the other hand if I can get an egg I will be finished with the area and can dodge 'em easily enough.
So far I'm playing an Adept Celestial Valkyrie and lovin it.
Thanks

Perhaps you can lure one away from its nest by getting close enough to get its attention. Once you have its attention run north to the wider area where you can circle around and go back down to the nests. It also would not hurt to have the fire ward spell (celestial spell) active while trying to get an egg.

When I stole the fire drake egg, I just ran in and ran out. They didn't seem to follow me back to Arindale. I did encounter one one the way to Ulm(?) though. I just ran around in the valley until I came to some trees that he couldn't fly through. then i just dodge fireballs while shooting at him with ranged weapons. Took forever to kill him, but it worked. Now that I'm higher level, I just use crystal wards of fire and run in and bash 'em. I can't seem to find enough of them to kill though. I'm trying to get up to deathlord, and getting my heavy shield and heavy armor skills to level 10 is taking forever.

the quickest way to raise those skills would be to find that warglaw character in the south-west area of the forbidden lands and kill him. After that, head to the isle of dispair and on the way there you should encounter the gaurdians of the forest that will attack you for having killed warglaw. they should net you over 1 million in experience points if you kill them all.

Fire Drakes AND Valkyrie Ruenkavala Weaknesses?
So far it seems that arrow damage does about as much damage to fire drakes and to this evil Valkyrie Ruenkavala as any spells I have tried and that the best tactic so far is to keep my distance using these range weapons/spells and dodging their fire and lightning bursts.
I think it is very unbalanced though in that when I fail to defend I can take huge damage while I must be firing 50 or 100 arrows at them with maybe 50% of those hitting me and only causing a noticeable amount of damage to them.
At this point in the game I do not know how the Runes work so I'm not using them. Does the Walkthrough list the various monsters with their weaknesses so I can more effectively gauge the appropriate attack to maximize damage and thus shorten the battle?
There is one Fire Drake in the Arindale area proper. It follows me around to some degree. These battles are WAY to slow. I'm ready for the 1.5 Trainer if only someone would finish it.
Sooo...what are the best defensive and offensive spells or tactics or weapons to use against these two specifically? My characters is level 9. All my Stats are at 27 to 30. And Skills vary around 3 to 5.
Thanks.

No, but there are a few forum threads about firedrakes, should you choose to search for them. Basically, I wouldn't recommend going after firedrakes unless you have a weapon that does ice damage. Firedrakes are completely optional, and I don't think they're worth the experience they give now. If a firedrake is bugging you in Arindale, then run somewhere else for a while and come back. If you get far enough away it should disappear.

Valkyrie Ruenkavala is no more. This is a scary game in that I just never know for sure how far I'm going to really get into it before I really get stuck. In this case I tricked this baddie to following me back to the nearby castle which I have yet to enter myself... But I thought the guards might help me deal with Ruenkavala. To my surprise (and this happens often in this game) she got stuck just before the bridge to the castle and it was easy dodging her lightning bolts and cutting her down with my bow--only took maybe 200 arrows or so.
So, as long as I can find a "problem" to exploit for a killing and for game progress then I guess I should stay happy.
As for the Fire Drakes...I may be able to lure them and pick them off one by one from behind the shack. This could take a while. It is when no apparent progress is being made that I am in my worst "give-up" gaming mood.

Using the crystal wards of fire helps against the fire drakes. You'll also be dealing with some other fire breathing creatures in the future, so I would try them out a little. It doesn't stop all damage, but it does cut it down. There are also some ice blasting ghosts that are a real pain in the butt that you'll be facing later on and even though they don't have a lot of hit points, I think they are the deadliest things in the game. Against these, the crystal wards of ice help. Both of these items can be purchased at the temple in Arindale, but they are pricey. They will recharge when you camp though. To gain more protection with these spells, build up you celestial magic skills.
As for offense, I go for the hit and run tactic. I hate using my shield, so I dodge as much as I can. One of the best spells that I used to use offensively was blast nova. It has a wide area of effect, radiating out in a circle form your character. It doesn't do a whole lot of damage, but it gives you time to move and you can rapid fire them. I killed a fire drake at low level using this spell and arrows. I did go through about 90 of the blast nova scrolls in doing so though. The only problem with this spell is that your enemy has to be almost level with you, so if the fire drake is more than 5 or 6 ft above you, it will not hit. Now I pretty much only use spells for healing and defense. I'm more of a hack and slash type offensively.

Yeah, this was mentioned in another thread. i already did that. I'm at level 9 on heavy armor and shield and it's going to take about 1 billion (yes billion) xp to get them up to level 10. So, I've got alot of farming to do.

Dragon egg
Well it is very easy to steal dragon egg : just go through altar (in fire drakes) then go up, and you will see nest with egg inside. Grab egg and run away
If you want you can go back here then you have lot of potions and good sword (Saphire greatsword-freezes an enemy)...A lot of exp can be grabed here

With the editor, you can get past all but physical damage. Just set your resistances to 100. Now those blasted firedrakes can't harm you.

Hope that worked for youm, but I'll incorporate some screen resolution checks to the TODO list for upcoming versions...I'm also revamping the interface to make it smaller. 800X600 is about the smallest you'll see these days, I hope. That darn TODO list seems to be growing faster than I can knock it down
