Is it still worth buying this game?

Just a muse I realised I never really got round to buying/playing NWN. I was excited about it, but it was just one of those that passed me by. I had a quick go at the original campaign but it didn't really impress me, but I noticed there is an incredible amount of online content and the fabled premium modules that have been quite a success, I have a slight inkling to just buy a copy and give it a go.

Is it still worth purchasing this game? Or better to wait for Neverwinter Nights 2? (which I have promised myself I won't miss out on).

I bought NWN over the new year in a special pack with the two expansions and three modules. I've been playing it since then and love it. It's no Baldur's Gate but it's still very good. Well worth buying, especially now considering the low price.

You might read that the graphics aren't especially good, but to be honest I barely notice them when it gets going. The writing, voice acting and the music are spot on and I find them to be the most important aspects of the game.

I agree, for the price you can get the set of the origional game with the expansions today, its worth it. I couldn't imagine playing NwN without the expansions they really do enhance the experience. My biggest complaint about the NwN series is not being able to create a full party but if you can get over the idea of one main character with an AI henchmen or two it is very entertaining.

Graphics aren't a worry for me, NWN's is easily acceptable. How is the online play? And player created modules?

There are some very good player-designed modules, though understandably they lack the kind of depth of change in the environment you can get from loading multiple mods at the same time as in Morrowind. This is an excellent review site for mods, and I've used it successfully when looking for good ones in the past.

Its worth it for Hordes of the Underdark. Its the only thing since Baldur's Gate II that I've even considered replaying. I haven't played the premium models yet (finals) but I hear they're at least decent.
