Talk about the grand daddy of Liches. What am I supposed to do against the Demi-Lich. He was immune to everything I threw at him, so I ended up tucking my tail and running away. Is there a way to slay him.

You can defend yourself from his attacks with:
Protection from Magic Scroll
Spell Imunity:Abjuration
Protection from Undead Scrolls

Weapons that effect him:
+4 or better weapons (+4 staff or Rynn sold in adventurers mart)
Melf Minute Meteors
Ring of the Ram

Expirement with these and I am sure you can get it done.

Yeah - cast spell immunity (abjuration) on one of your characters and let that character stand closest to the Demi-Lich - Kangaxx will only target that person with his imprisonment spells, and they won't work...meanwhile you can have another character hack at him until he's dead 'n gone Image

8 Traps (bountyhunter - both type)
1 Keldron - with protection from magic and the +5 sword and a potion of speed.

Traps kill the lich form - instantly
Keldron kills the Demi-lich. - Battle Over!!

I have had my mage helping with the staff from the twisted rune (considered a +5 stricking weapon)

I've heard that the demilich can also be killed by traps as well, but I've never tried it myslef. The strategy section on this sight has a whole bunch of ways to kill kangass.

BEWARE A BLUNDER!!! It is believed that Kangaxx attacks the nearest enemy. Here is my experience: I reached the ideal constelation - my kensai/mage was hitting Kangaxx by the Staff of Rynn and the others were hidden away. I decided to help the mage and sent my priest behind the Kangaxx and let him cast Holy Smite. KANGAXX TURNED BACK and imprisoned the priest - even if the mage was his nearest enemy. It seems that Kangaxx has something like
IF
Attacked(...)
THEN
Attack(LastAttackerOf(Myself)) // i.e., imprison
END
in his script and that the block above has pretty high priority.
Here is my fight against Kangaxx in ch. 3: Tools needed:
1x kensai/mage with ++ for quarterstaffs
1x Staff of Rynn
1x Death Ward spell
3x Spell Immunity (for safety)
Tools recommended:
Ring of Ram, Boots of Speed, Carsomyr (if available)
Priest: Lot of offensive spells with "Save: 1/2", i.e., spells that always hit (I use Holy Smite).
Phase 1:
Send one (with the Boots of Speed) to trigger the dialog then run to the exit. Start "Cat and Mouse" game - let Kangaxx cast a spell and leave the area immediately. Return and continue wasting Kangaxx' spells.
At one moment, Kangaxx stops casting spells and decides to approach you. Wait. You need Kangaxx at the exit from the level. Kill Kangaxx the Lich and leave the area immediately.
Phase 2:
Give your mage Boots of Speed and Ring of Ram. Cast Death Ward on the mage (because of something called "Demilich Howl" - a Big Fun like spell) then cast Spell Immunity. Save the game and go downstairs. Pause the game and command the mage to attack Kangaxx the Demilich and the others to run out of Kangaxx sight (to the opposite side of the sarcophagus). See the blunder described above. Let the mage to beat Kangaxx. Do not forget to recast Spell Immunity when needed.
Use Ring of Ram.
Phase 3:
"Kangaxx: Moral failure" says the text window. Kangaxx is yellow and running away. Time to celebrate victory? No!! Kangaxx is regenerating! Kangaxx does not cast Imprisonments while it is yellow. Instead of celebrations, let the mage to continue beating, command the priest to bomb Kangaxx with the offensive spells and the paladin to attack it with Carsomyr.
Phase 4:
A drink in the Sea's Bounty Inn.

The "Spectator tactic": if you don't like to get up and close with this mean bastard all you need is:

1 cup of wizard's eye
2 teaspoons of fire elements

1.prepar the wizard eye
2.put the wizard eye in demi-lich (or as close as possible)
3.add the two fire elements
and wolla you have minced lich

Served with laughter and self-esteem.

Can also be found on text-tv page 345

enjoy!

I've noticed that some creatures aren't so dumb. When releasing Phaerie from the MF's (heh heh):

Fighter up front with the brain serrum/protected from confusion, everyone else has offensive spells/missiles.

After plugging away for a few moments, the MF's charge... right past my protected guy to suck the brains out of my other party members.

Script -
Attack foe,
Attack fails - is foe protected from brain suck? (how the @?#! do they know that?)
Yes - suck brains from unprotected foes.

Now *thats* the game cheating.

@Gruntboy:
The Mind Flayers CheckStat(...) your INT score before and after attack or StateCheck(...) whether you were INT drained most probably. It is not a cheat. See the source for mage scripts for another examples what all is possible.

Fire Elementals can also hurt him.

Maybe all fireattacks can hurt him, has anybody tested this?

YEP THESE TWO (TREE IF YOUR COUNT +4 WEP.) ARE THE ONLY ONES. I HAVE TRYED ALL SPELL I HAD AND NO EFFECT. THE FIRE ELEMENTS BLOWS IS LIKE A +4 MAGICAL WEAPON AND THE LITTLE METEOR IS THE SAME AS EQUEPTING A +4 MAGICAL WEAPON.

@Radek.

That's fair enough, but all I'm saying is I don't know what a Mind Flayers stats/protections are etc (except magic protection maybe) but they know mine (how??? because the computer know all, unfairly).

If I'm blasting fireballs at some creature with 50% fire resistance, i don't know that.

But a mindflayer can ID which characters have lowest INT and therefore will die quickest. That blows. I can see how their mindsuck powers could 'have no effect' for them and they might move on.
