At Dantooine, he is talking to carth onasi when you are a male. He says he found the exile. Was disciple looking for the exile? What's it all about?

This would be more appropriate in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II forum. I'll move it there, so you'll get some more responses.

Spoilers Big Time
The Disciple works for the Republic. The Republic is looking for, or at least trying to keep tabs on, the Exile. Carth is particularly interested in him/her since he thinks the Exile might know were Revan is. He probably sent the Disciple to look for the Exile at the old academy.

disciple also has ties to the jedi order, which is why he became a historian and is researching the history of the jedi, so he will have known a lot about the exile and therefore it kinda makes sense that if he spots him he would let people know.

Plus in the cutscene when you go to Telos' surface you see the Admiral talking to Grenn - saying they will adopt a 'wait and see approach'... Disciple is 'seeing'...

Disciple's history
*SPOILER*
I think I remember a dialouge from my last time through the game. As a female character (preferrably LS), you can ask the Disciple about his past. It turns out that he was a Jedi trainee, not having gained the rank of Padawan yet. The Exile would've become his teacher, but went to war instead. That's why the Disciple left the Order, but he'll accept your trainig even now, ten years later.
