When Oblivion comes out will you still be playing Morrowind

A thread I recently saw over at Rethan Manor, and something Fable said in my Telvanni thread, inspired this topic.

So, will you still be playing Morrowind when Oblivion comes out?

I will be because:

1. I can't afford a new computer, so I have no choice
2. I still have not completed everything in the game
3. There are still many wonderful mods, especially quests, I have not tried
4. As Emma over at Rethan Manor stated, it will likely be about a year before some quality Oblivion mods are released
5. I'm hoping that when I actually can buy Oblivion, that the price will have dropped and that they'll have ironed out any bugs.

EDIT
Ugh.. I spelled "Oblivion" wrong... Fable could you please fix my title? Thanks :)

As I've said many times in the past, I am quite skeptical of Oblivion, if it can truly amount to what Morrowind has done for us.

When oblivion comes out, Morrowind will become a classic, which will make me want to play it more and more.

Right now, oblivion looks flashy, but we can't tell until it's out if it's good or not. For all we know, it could possibly be another Dungeon Lords. Now, I admit, it HAS gotten better, but it's still kinda dungeon crawl. It would be a major disappointment if Oblivion comes out like that, and I do hope it doesnt, I hope, like the last games, they impress us with some quality material.

Until I get an xbox 360 or a better computer I'm stuck with morrwind. I don't really care though, morrowind is good enough.

I'll play it as much as I do now, which is in spurts here and there for two reasons:

1. I need to upgrade my video card before I can run the game...which is actually a handy excuse to do it now that I think about it.

2.Morrowind never really grabbed me for more than the first month or so anyway. I'm not sure whther or not I'll be blown away by Oblivion or not, but I'll likely wait until I talk to some people who I know have kind of the same taste in games that I do. If it's a lot like Morrowind, I'll wait until it drops in price or the mod community is well underway. Don't get me wrong, MW is a good enough game, but I lost interest pretty quickly and only really got interested again when I got into the mods.

But I likely will still be playing BG2 :p :D

I can run Oblivion on my current machine so for sure there will be a pause when I start the game, but I think I will stick with Morrowind for a long while to come. Too many good mods out there, too many things to enjoy and *if* Oblivion turns out to be good, we will still have to wait for truely good mods to start popping up. So no anticipated stop really on my part when it comes to MW.

I can run Oblivion on my computer right now too,and due to the screenshots seen on the Gamebanshee forums,i will definately get it.However,Morrowind will never be gone and i will start it many times over and over again. Here's a few reasons why:

1.I have Never completed the game, leaving many other exitments and new things to try.

2.I like the story line, the combat and the huge world.

But i will decide for final when Oblivion comes, because it might get Morrowinds place on my *play* list. However,i still play Diablo 2 as a classic, and i have started even D1 again...

Spam removed. Obviously, Dragon Wench's initial post is directed at people that enjoy and play Morrowind now. If you hate Morrowind, her question doesn't apply to you, and please have the courtesy not to post.

As closer Oblivion comes, as less sure i am if i'll ever play it. Is seems to me form what i have gathered they noticable lessened the degree of freedom i liked in MW so much. I play games i like, not ones what look pretty, so i hardly could be bought by graphics - if i like other sides much less. I'd probably give a try, but... So was with BG series, i enjoyed both BG a lot and left NWN very soon. Well, i like to be vagabond  choosing directions myself. And when they try to force me folow the track they'd imagined i should go, i just have to leave them alone :mischief:
I may be wrong, of course. i often am :D

As much as I love Morrowind, I think I'll be playing Oblivion until I'm bored of it. Maybe I'll alternate once in a while but I'll stick mainly to Oblivion. :)

I'll be reviewing Oblivion for GameBanshee, and if I like it, keep playing it for some time. Many of the modders I've come to know over the last couple of years are also making the journey, so I don't imagine that the game will be "barren" for long. :D Definite replayability in it, too, since you don't take the initiative to join guilds; rather, they seek you out. I like that. There will still probably be ways to max out characters far too easily, but I'm hopeful something like this will have a tendency to make PCs more unique.

Morrowind essentially has unlimited replayability due to mods...

There will be less mods for Oblivion. Plus it's being released for console, and may be more geared towards younger people... I'll probably wait until June to get it (unless it's out after that), as I'm not buying any more games until after my exams...

Adopting a 'wait and see approach'...
I will be because:

1. I can't afford a new computer, so I have no choice
=sigh= Very sadly, the same goes for me. So I sort of hope Oblivion really sucks... ;) ;) .
What worries me is that the amount of mods made for MW will probably dramatically decrease when Oblivion comes out because modders will turn their attention to the new game. Then again, I've read a few times that making mods for Oblivion will be much harder because scripts in Oblivion
are far more complicated or less accessible or something like that.

Not what I've heard. Supposedly, it's identical aside from added commands that you can completely ignore, if you wish. I have to wonder if this means it will be possible to transpose Morrowind mods (with suitable changes for database objects and locations) into Oblivion, because if so, that will really speed up the production of mods.

But mods that use such features as the Radiant AI will involve a bit of a learning curve.

The thread I saw over at Rethan Manor did seem to suggest it will indeed be possible to port some Morrowind mods over to Oblivion.....

I have to admit, I've had similar selfish thoughts... :o :p ;)

I think the output of MW mods will decrease... I've also been concerned about their availability becoming less, so for the last while I've been downloading anything that looks good, even if I don't plan to immediately install it.

That leads me to think we'll have at least as many mods in Oblivion as we have in MW. We need to remember that modmaking was slow at the start, because no one was familiar with the MW scripting language. Now that there is familiarity, and many potential modders are already waiting for the new title, chances are Oblivion modding will take off much quicker.

True; and the only truly huge source of MW mods at this point is Summit, what with the closure of two other sites over the last year (for reasons unrelated to Oblivion). I'm zipping my hoard up, for future use--again, depending upon how good Oblivion turns out to be.
so for the last while I've been downloading anything that looks good, even if I don't plan to immediately install it.
That's what I'm doing as well. Don't forget to make a back-up copy though. You never know when your hard disk might crash... again... ;) ;)
