Ruins of Kemel-Ze
Ruins of Kemel-Ze
Been playing MW with a few characters now, and in every game I stumble upon the book: Ruins of Kemel-Ze.
Has anyone been there, is it worth going and where exactly are they?

Ha ha, yes the famous book that's been giving me a headache for a long time now. I can't find it either, though I'd love to. And I know a few people with the same issue as well ... though I am reluctant to read where it is, I'd want to know can it even *be* found.
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

never heared about it.
Slightly off topic, but have you read one book about a man who could wear Heavy armor and run faster with it than others with light or no armor? That actualy got my curious, because the man was rumored to have drowned in the Sea of Ghosts, leaving his unique desirable heavy armor on his cold body.
Don't believe everything you read.

Location of Kemel-Ze
Can't believe my own geekiness with this crap...
Anyway, here's an exerpt which is most the most explanatory of the location of the ruins, and I quote:
...getting to the ruins would not be a problem. Also known as the "Cliff City", Kemel-Ze lies on the mainland side of the Vvardenfel Rift, sprawling down the sheer coastal cliff. Travelers from the east coast of Vvardenfel often visit the site by boat, and it can also be reached overland from the nearby villages without undue hardship.
Once my expedition had assembled in Seyda Neen...
Here's another piece:
By land, they can only be reached using narrow paths that wind down the face of the cliff from above, where any misstep threatens to send one tumbling into the sea foaming about the jagged rocks below. The city's original entrance to the surface must have been in the part of the city to the northeast - the part that fell into the sea long ago when the eruption of Red Mountain created this mind-bogglingly vast crater. After successfully navigating the treacherous path, we found ourselves in a large chamber, open to the sky on one side, disappearing into the darkness on the other. As we stepped forward, our boots crunched on piles of broken metal, as common in Dwarven ruins as potsherds in other ancient sites.
Ok - seems to me there could be an underwater entrance and one above ground in the crater of Red Mountain...?
Thoughts?

I found this reference on the Tamriel Rebuilt site....
It has been decided that the Imperial Archeological Society (IAS) will be a player joinable faction for Map 2. The IAS will be principally involved in the exploration of the ruins of Kemel-Ze (for those who do not know this is a huge labyrinthine Dwemer ruin near the Imperial city of Darconis where the IAS has their principal base of operations).
I'm just guessing here... But it stands to reason that if a group of modders are looking to add in the Ruins of Kemel-Ze... that they don't actually exist in the game itself.
I think I have also read somewhere that the ruins are on the Mainland...

No worries, we all seem to be geeks when it comes to this.
Anyway, the trouble with that is that I copied it out to paper and then searched, and searched, and searched ... and nothing. Now it could be that either it is well hidden so I missed it though I've been over it a lot or that I was looking in the wrong place. To tell you the truth there were ruins where I looked, just no entrance.
Maybe we should make it a join effort, going on from one starting point and then widening the circle (geeky enough ah? )
Now in regards to the post of dragon wench it is possible that it isn't there but then why put it in the book that they know we will read and of course we'll look for it - the thing that pushes me towards the answer that it isn't there isn't so much that mod, but that I know of quite a few gamers that looked, and still are, for a very long time and neither of us have found it.
I guess this is the one thing that bugs me. I want to know if they are in the game. I *so* want in, but it is starting to get a tad frustrating in the sense of I am starting to have doubts if it is even there. If not, it was a nasty thing to play on us.

Quandary of the geeks
You're right, that kind of geekiness would take us to the next level...
Check your personal messages, Kedde. --Fable
Unfortunately it does seem likely that the ruins are located on the mainland and not on Morrowind, especially since it seems noone's stumbled across them.
It would be kinda great to be the first (tentatively) to discover it, and to find out what's in there.
I think we should try searching the Ghostgated-area and afterwards take a tedious swim directly off the coast, westward from Seyda Neen. Waste of time? Who knows?
Also, the mountainous area around the ghostgate may potentially also be hiding the ruins. I'm thinking directly North and South of Ghostgate. South-East would also be possible. This is a pretty large area of course...
Feel free to pick either of these depressive locations...
Alternatively, we could do a circle run as you suggested Ashen, where one would start in the middle to the North and one to the South (incl. islands).
I'm up for it...

I don't know if this helps any, but I was always under the impression that the ruins didn't exist in the game, there may be modded types that have the ruins built in, but in the Xbox version at least, I am pretty sure they don't exist. I really hope that made sense.
It is such a quiet thing, to fall, but far more terrible is to admit it. -Kreia
