These two are the most similar NPC´s in the game. I was hoping that one of you guys could tell me which one is to be preferred. Even there stats sum is the same (87)
I have in my party now Minsc (Boo), Keldore, Aerie, Jaheira, Nalia and myself is a "clean" sorc. Now in act 4 in spellhold and have to choose!!??!

Who are you romancing? I would get rid of either Aerie or Jaheira and keep both Nalia and Imoen. I would lean toward dumping Aerie, since Jaheira could really help you out in the fighter department, but that depends on your romance. If it's down to keeping either Imoen or Nalia, it's kind of a toss-up. Imoen has an extra spell per level, but Nalia is probably higher level and thus will gain access to better spells by the end of the game.

Don't agree with Rail (he's a diry mage-lover

). 1 Mage is enough.
But he's right about the choices. Who is the more experienced by that point in the game?

Imoen is part of the game's plot so I never saw the logic in dropping her...your party is already very good with 3 fighers in kendorn, minsc and jahaira. with you as a sorcerer...I would drop nalia...even though she may get a couple more spells than imoen...your party will still be strong enough to win and keep the plot real...

This is quite a dilemma! Since you just spent so much time and money to rescue Imoen, why wouldn't you welcome her back to your party?

Why not? So she's your 1/2 sister? 'I don't want you to die lil-sis, so I'll rescue you. But you're going to stay out of harms way from now on. Anyways Nalia's a better mage than you. Bye-ee!'

Gruntboy...wouldn't you feel that your sister would be most protected by your side...unless of course your prowess as a sorcerer is questionable

Possibly. But isn't it even safer to leave her out of dangerous places like dungeons, hell etc?
Just offering an acceptable role-playing alternative for people who feel they *have* to keep Imoen but don't want to be pressurised into compromising their party choices.
After all, that would mean those who did BG1 without Minsc/Dynaheir, Khalid/Jaheira and Imoen did it 'wrong'. Wheres the choice/fun in that?

I don't think this is a spoiler because you know what Irenicus did to Imoen:
.

.
.
Don't you want Imoen with you when you go try to rescue her soul back from Bodhi?

Are we talking reverse-vampire here or irenicus takes soul?
If 1, that happens to your romance.
If 2, kill irenicus = souls-R-us all around, no? Imoen or not.

I went on the rescue quest very early in the game because I wanted to replace Nalia with Imoen (Nalia is a decent mage but her thieving abilities simply SUCK!).
I had planned to keep Yoshimo to the end, but then, he was killed accidentially.
So with a new NPC slot free I kept both Nalia and Imoen and I definetly didn't regret it.
Double Spellpower simply rules!

I would have to agree, DUMP Aerie.

Dont lisen to weasel he is a Fallen Paladin.
Imoen,Jaheira,Minsc and the character have been tortured, lost friends and lost everthing that owns to Irenicus so they are going to make him Pay.
About your question if I was you, kick out Nalia Before going to spellhold and take yoshimo there so you dont lose Nalia,Imoen is a better thift that Nalia and the mage level they can get is the same for both.
If you kick Nalia out there she will stay there(cant go back to Amn) but Imoen goes to the copper coronet(she is the only one that can go back to Amn. Why? go ask Bioware). so if you dont want to lose Nalia for good...
(I notice that you dont have a cleric, something to think about if I was you)

And Nalia can't go back to anywhere she just stays where you left her with "Ok I will wait you here." I left her at spellhold and couln't take her back .
Anyway it sound better to take Imoen with me since that Salvanas guy was waiting for her at Copper Coronet. (had to take care of my little sister)
First dialog after rescuing Imoen :
- Imoen ? Are you alright ? (Are you still a virgin ?)
-He.. He ..took .. my ..
-He took your what ?? Speak up girl !!
-He took my soul ..
-(Phew..) He better didn't take your ..erm anyway let's go .. and don't you again cast a spell without my permission .
-but..

Depends on your playing style and what kind of character you are role-playing. Do you want or need another mage. Some like the firepower of more mages. Others (Gruntboy) like to blunder and muscle their way through problems.

Depends on how you want to proceed.
Also, depending on your character's personality, you may want to keep Imoen by your side as a fighting companion, or you may realize you are getting into dangerous and deadly situations and want her to stay in the safety of Athkatla.
About Jaheira, well... to each his own. IMO, she's good for 2 things. She takes a beating with her good HP's and AC, and she has the spell insect swarm to kill mages. Those aren't enough reasons to keep her around, IMO. Still, if you're romancing her...

LOL
Class act Raistlin!
just the thing that I have spend 3 acts just to come and save her butt (ok she did save mine)is a good reason to pick her instead of Nalia.
There is nothing wrong with Nalia but if it is more or less the same....Imoen.
Thanks a lot great help

Rail - lol
Might is right. Get there fastest with the mostest. Hit first, ask questions later.
I use a strategy of attrition and annihilation. Go for their centre of gravity, hit their strengths.
All that's left to do is bury the dead. (theirs, not mine!). Or let the carrion eat them.

I told Imoen that I didn't need her, and sent her back to Amn. My party at the time was my fighter/theif, Keldorn, Jaheira, Minsc, Aerie & Nalia.
As well as being a fairly competent fighter, Jaheira also makes an excellent first aid kit in conjunction with Aerie. Between the two of them you can have so many healing spells even the toughest fight can be healed.
The reasons I kept Nalia rather than taking Imoen back were twofold. Firstly Nalia was at a much higher level, she was one of the first quests I did in Amn, and before I went to Spellhold I did everything in Amn, Umar, Windspear, Trademeet, etc. so she was already 16th level when we got to Spellhold. Secondly, all through the game I had been giving her first pick when it came to adding scrolls to her spellbook, so she had a much wider choice of spells including many high level ones which I didn't think I'd be able to get hold of again.
I had a well balanced group, Me with boots of speed and Daystar and Keldorn with Carsomyr to rush in in front (Keldorn got his boots of speed towards the end of Spellhold), Minsc with heavy crossbow of accuracy and bracers of archery and Jaheira with sling of seeking and girdle of hill giant strength as backup, both armed with good melee kit as well (Lilarcor and Belm respectively), then Airie (+3 sling) and Nalia (Tuigan bow) giving long range support. My F/T had the ring of Gaxx and Keldorn and Minsc both had rings of regeneration.
