edwin and the nether scroll???

I took edwin into the grave yard and killed the lich and "got" the nether scroll.however,it doesn't appear in my inventory,and after a short discussion,he said he' use it for the good of the party.did I goof it up,or did I not really "get" the scroll?

No you didn't screw it. Edwin has the scroll,it just doesn't appear in his inventory. Continue with your game and after some days (don't remember how many) this Nether Scroll quest will pick up again.
