Tips to an old Baldur gamer.

Post by rauf »

Hi folks. Its been a while since l played baldurs gate II+ToB, and now all of a sudden l plan to make reinstall and replay this masterpiece once more. Thing is that l never played Baldurs gate I+Totsc and l never tried any kinds of mods. I played the SoA+ToB under insane rules and still it was only occasionaly challenging. Kangaax is always a pain in the ass :-) ).

My question is: Is Baldurs Gate+Totsc I worth playing and should l trie some mod for a better playing experience. Playing Baldur I with the Baldur II engine sounds very interesting though.

I am planning on give icewind dale 1+2 and planescape: torment a shot too later on.

thx in advance/ rauf *mixed martial artist monk*

In my opinion, Baldurs Gate 1 is harder than BG2. At least in the beginning. I think if you play the series from the beginning, you will appriciate the series even more. And some people think, me included, that the storyline in bg1 is better than in bg2. But that is up to you, of course.

One intresting thought: When I played BG2, I raised an eyebrow when I found Daystar with all its advatages against undead and so on. And in BG1 I jumped out of my chair when I found a longsword +1 for the first time. BG1 is totally worth it, in my opinion.

I'm not sure about this, but doesn't the mod "tutu" make it possible to play bg1 in bg2 interface or somesuch?

Yes l believe BG1 is worth the time, atleast considering how much l liked BG2...more like got obsessed. But had no luck with the Tutu conversion...couldnt start a new game with it. Is BG Trilogy pack much easier to install even though the install file is almost 650mb?

It's hard to go from BG2 to BG1 simply 'cause it's soo much... more basic. And boring, some might say. I love both games equally, but I'm unsure whether I would have if I started with BGII. These games are, after all, extremely different.

If you're looking for challenges I suggest you try the tactics and ascension mods. :o

Yes,TuTu is the thing of masters!I recomend it warmly,as you can play trough BG1 and then go on smoothly in BG2.Same char, maybe even same items.
