Mournhold Expanded and PC Performance

I just noticed Coot's entry of this mod to our list, but I didn't want to clutter that thread up with discussion, so I'm asking here ;)

I downloaded "Mournhold Expanded" the other day, but I'm a bit afraid to install it because of the probable FPS hits on my old machine.

If anyone has any experiences with the mod, especially with regard to performance, I'd really appreciate hearing about them.

Thanks!

IIRC my computer is just about as old as yours  but I've had no problems so far. Mind you, I haven't had the time to explore all of Mournhold (my daughter was complaining about me not changing her diapers for 48 hours and stuff) but the only 'problem' I've encountered so far were longer loading times.
Also, there's two patches out and one of them reduces CPU load.

You could always uninstall the mod if it really mucks up things, but you have to try it. I can practically guarantee you'll love it. Just look at the names of the people who created it.
Mournhold Expanded is on my 'absolutely favorite mods' list, right next to 'White Wolf of Lokken' and 'Solstheim Castle', possibly even replacing them as number 1.

I don't know how or why but some people - with newer hardware than me - seem to have some framerate problems. I suggest you take a look at the Planet Elder Scrolls Forum/Morrowind Plugins & Mods/Mournhold Expanded forum.

I got some framerate hits in the docks, but that is one huge cell... I have got some crashes when moving between cells... It is pretty nice though...

Some people have said that ultimate textures looks better and lowers framerate. I downloaded it at the same time as Mournhold Expanded and I notice smoother movement in Balmora...

Is your computer set for best performance? I was reminded of this when I read a post by Fable on the Oblivion forum:

You might also (assuming you're using WinXP) right-click on My Computer, then select System Properties. Go to the Advanced tab, then click on Performance. Click on "adjust for best performance." This will turn off many of the visual lollipops Microsoft added to the desktop, and free up still more memory for you.

It helped my MW performance a lot.

Thanks for the tips Coot, I just readjusted that setting, it will be interesting to see how much better Bloodmoon performs (since I find it more resource heavy). If it is a breeze, I'll likely install Mournhold Expanded.

Mine is still encountering problems... A few less due to optimising my system...

It tends to take a long time going from cell to cell... However, most of it looks and plays quite well...

I just installed this today...and.... WOW !

It crawls in some places, like the exterior docks areas. But interiors seem to be fine, though loading times are often long.

That being said.. My jaw just keeps dropping at the amazing work that has been done here...
Korana is one of my favourite modders, and this mod is well worth the try, even if you aren't sure about your system specs.
