Way to Determine Opponent Status and Skills?

I've been playing to beat the band and enjoying the game immensely.

I do, however, come across a few things that I can't seem to figure out....or if they even exist.

One of those is how to determine opponent skills and status. Is it even possible? The reason I'd like to figure this out is to be able to determine if I'm going up against an opponent with certain types of skills that items in my own arsenal can be used to weaken them. Otherwise, it's a 'hit and miss' operation.

Another thing this would help is being able to determine the health of my comrades. For example: Does my horse need healing? Now or ever? I do know that the horse gets involved in the battles by kicking and biting. But, isn't he taking damage as well? I'd think so.

Thanks for any help.

The only time I've encountered this in MW was when a companion mod offered you the option to see their health, and optionally to request healing or do it themselves. Can't say I've seen anything like it yet in Oblivion.

Yeah, I remember it happening in Morrowind. And, it seemed that there was a little better indicator of how much damage was being done during combat. But, I might be getting my games mixed up. That wouldn't be far out of the question for me.

As I recall, in Morrowind, a patch was finally released that allowed you to see your opponent's health bar while you were fighting.

Perhaps a similar patch will be released for Oblivion.

Have you noticed the "half-moon" shaped gold "thing" above your crosshairs when you point it at enemies? It shows their life... it gets smaller as you hurt them.

The same thing appears when you point your crosshairs at a friend (including horse) who is hurt (note that they have to be hurt... otherwise it won't show up).

When my horse get's hurt it always shows me the gold "half-moon" thing above my crosshairs as I get back on my horse...

As for knowing if enemies are resistant to fire or whatnot... I wish there were a way to find out...

there is a way to find out, try it out on them, make a note. nice touch of realism there, it wa one of my least favorite features in neverwinter how you just had to take a moment, check the monsters details page and automatically know all its strengths and weaknesses
