Dreamworld - Henantier - Test of Resolve help

Hey
Got this Henantier quest from Kud-Ei in Bravil (i think)
It involves putting on a dream amulet and rescuing her lover form a dream world. Inside is a world called the test of resolve.
I'm a breton mage, very little combat skills _at all_, and the test of resolve is kicking my ass. It's I'm silenced, and all I get magic wise is a staff with 24 charges of 40 lightning damage, versus 2 minotaurs. The staff is only good for knocking one minotaur down to 1/3 health, and after that I'm stuck with a blade and a warhammer.
Has anyone done this part successfully as a non-fighter?? Is there a trick I'm missing?
Thanks!!
~Roland

i actually managed this with just the lightning staff, basically i jumped up to the rim of the area and stood on one of the outcrops so they were stuck below me unable to reach me and proceeded to calmy hit them repeatedly with the lightning attack. sorry that may be not much help if you're saying you failed to kill them both with all the staff charges

Odd. Well, you can always use your flare spell and wait until your magicka replenishes. It might take long, and you'll have to keep backing up a lot but it beats getting stuck and having to start all over again.

Ah, wait I forgot. No spells available in that zone, right? Damn, sorry can't think of anything else.

Magical weapon, something like an enchanted sword if you are not a high enough lvl to get them with an ordinary one. Silver as well. Finding an elevated spot where you cannot be (easily) reached works as well.
Ah yes, by the way, did you do the staff quest from her? If you didn't back up your saves. When you do it in this order (dream then staff) sometimes the game gets bugged.

Yeah I completed the staff quest first. I've heard of that quest getting bugged, but I never heard it came from saving henantier before getting the staff... that's interesting.
mordib, not too sure how you managed that with the staff.. was it lightning? maybe minotaurs are resistant to lightning or something. how many charges were there?
Ashen, what did you mean by "Magical weapon, something like an enchanted sword if you are not a high enough lvl to get them with an ordinary one" - do the items that appear in the "prepare" box get better at higher levels? If so, I should wait to do this until later. And why should it be silver?
As far as combat goes, three hits from them and I'm dead =/
I won't be home until tomorrow, so I'll try again then, but any more hints you can give me in the meantime would really help. Thanks!

I'm a mage as well (without any combat skills as major). I equipped armor, picked up a big-arse hammer and started smacking away. Did the trick for me, just block once in a while.

My guy is a agent/assassin whatever. All I did was equip the staff and hit them with the staff 3 times each and they where dead. I also did that before getting the mage staff from being in the mage staff and haven't had any troubles. Hope you figure it out.

My char is mainly a Mage with Apprentice level Blade skill. I equipped the armour provided, equipped the sword, and picked up the staff just because it was there. (My char has only 5 skill with Blunt, so it never occurred to me to equip it. Consequently, the Minotaurs killed me 3 or 4 times before I decided to try the staff. I don't know how much juice was in it, because I never checked how many uses, but it killed both Minotaurs with my char only getting minor damage.
I think one reason for this was that I was able to kill them one at a time. I stayed just in front of the gate that shuts you into the arena, and as they rushed me, the one on the left arrived first and I killed it with the staff just after the second arrived, so I was able to concentrate on one at a time.
Hope this is helpful

I use a Knight as a character so fighting was an option, but it took too long, since there were two minotaurs... so I used the staff and killed both of them without taking any damage... I was just running around and jumping once in a while, while using the staff to deal damage... I even missed a few times...

Similar Problem
I'm having a similar problem of not being able to kill the minataurs - only it's because I have been "silenced" and cant use the staff at all. All my data from before the quest (except for really far back) has been erased and I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be great.

Well actually in this quest you're supposed to use the staff to kill the minotaurs. I even had the impression that they're particularly vulnerable against it. I think I need one or two charges for each. So the only reasons I could imagine are either that there is indeed a bug, or maybe you're playing at a very high difficulty level. But the last one is very unlikely in my opinion, since I'm also playing at a quite high difficulty, and as I only needed bout two charges each, even maximum difficulty should not be a problem in this case.
So long,
Sol

I played this quest as a Mage character, and tried a few different ways to beat the Minotaurs. I initially tried to kill them using the Dwarvin Warhammer. But with a low Blunt Skill, and probably due to the fact that I was playing as a Mage, this didn't work out too well.
I then switched to the Staff of Lightning and absolutely crushed the Minotaurs with it. It took maybe, 2 or 3 charges per enemy. I don't even think I took any damage from them.
I've noticed in other posts that some people are "unable" to use the Staff because they are silenced. Just to make sure everyone is using the weapon properly: Equip the Staff as if it was a normal weapon and attack as if it was a normal weapon. But as you will see, as opposed to "swinging" the Staff like a normal weapon, it will instead cast Lightning Bolts. (Very effectively I might add.)
Due to the fact that Staves do not use Magika and due to the fact that their charges are not "cast" like a typically spell (and I dont believe they affect your Destruction skill either), you can still use EVEN if you are Silenced. Which happens to be the case with this quest.
And as I mentioned in another post.

Once you realize the effectiveness of this and other Staffs, you'll probably be looking for replacements once you make it out of this Quest. There are some incredibly powerful Staves that can make short work of a good portion of the enemies in this game. I found a Staff of Conflagration that at my low levels is a lifesaver if I manage to face multiple opponents at one time. It does 20 Fireball Damage for 2 seconds in a 15 Feet Area of Effect, It also casts Vulnerability to Fire 100% for 2 Seconds, as well as illuminates the target.

It can take out a group of strong enemies often in as little as 2 blasts.

I don't know what you gusy are talking about.
I'm a fighter type and it took like a bazillion hits to kill those minotaurs I had my difficulty at a little above normal and even then three hits murdered me.
I had to set my difficulty down to normal and even then it was really tough. I'm on the 360 if anyone thinks that matters.

I tried researching this but couldn't find anything specifically.
Does anyone know if Minotaurs Regenerate Health like some of the other characters in the game? (Similarly to how Trolls or Zombies Regenerate Health) If they do, that could be a reason why so many people are having trouble killing them. (They may be regenerating as fast as you are damaging them)

My charachter is a more sneaky type, but with good fighting skills. I'm have the chorrol blade not given back and in the dream it was by me among with the other quest stuffs. Odd, quest items can not be removed from the inventory so they come to the dreamworld with you. This is may be a bug afterall...

)
But it was hard for me and and after the first try I tried it with the lightning staff. with the staff was the fight a piece of cake...
