My brother purchased new from Bioware, Baldur's Gate. He got it long before ToTSC was released. Does any one know how this 6 cd set came about?
I think it may be a limited or pre-release from Bioware.

Perhaps the sixth disc was the bonus one. SoA came with a bonus CD that include a nice amount of features.
I'd place my bets on the bonus CD as BG itself is five.
I believe that IWD2 also had a bonus CD.

According to my brother there is no bonus cd. I have the collectors edition with 6 cd's 5 are BG1 and the 6th is ToTSC. I have told him I have only 5 and he states that I got ripped as I am missing a disc, which I am not. He purchased his game in 1998, not sure what month.
I do believe that it is a limited release by Bioware before Interplay release of the game in a 5 cd set.

The original release for the game has 5 CDs. The sixth is Tales of the Sword Coast extension which was released (I think) about a year after the original game.
It is likely that afterwards the game has been re-released with the extension included. That it true for BG2 aswell; I myself own a bundled version of it which holds both Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal extension.

The game was re-released as a collector's edition with 6 cd's and the 6th being ToTSC. My brothers game was purchased long before ToTSC was released. His 6 cd's contain only Baldur's Gate I and nothing else. I believe Bioware pre-released the game in limited numbers with 6 cd's. I am wondering if there is anyone who knows how this 6 cd game came to be.
