Shadowkeeper question

Having just started to dabble in SK...

I am attampting to romance Aerie. Her AERIEROMANCEACTIVE variable is 1. I still have Jahiera also and her JAHIERAROMANCEACTIVE variable is 3. What does this number do? Where should it stay/move to as the game progresses?

I have already played a character that completed the Jahiera romance, and want to try Aerie.

Thanks in advance

Here's a breakdown of all variables that are involved in NPC romances. Replace # with the NPC's name: Aerie, Jaheira, Viconia or Anomen.

#RomanceActive:
- 1: romance is currently active, in the "getting to know you" phase
- 2: romance has progressed to the "you're in love" phase
- 3: romance terminated, either by you treating them badly or you're in a romance with another NPC

#Romance:
- This is the timer used in the game to determine when the next romance dialogue would occur, the number stands for seconds (real time).

LoveTalk:
- This is in the LOCALS section of the NPC, determine which dialogue is going to be triggered next. The romance progress, in another word.
- Don't change this value unless you know exactly what you're doing, you might end up skipping certain dialogues, and breaking the romance.

#Match"
- 1: It is possible for your character to start a romance with that NPC
- 0: No romance is possible with that NPC

Thanks

@ Sabre

Thanks for the rundown. Is there a comprehensive listing of what variables do somewhere? I could probably infer what they do based on your post, but, like you said

Which variables are you refering to? The ones for the romance, or all of those that you see when you load the savegame in ShadowKeeper?

For the romance, the ones I listed above are pretty much all of the important ones. There are a few others that controls sub-plots within the romance, triggering encounters and so on. If you want more detail, I can try to elaborate more on those for you. Just let me know what information you're after.

As for all of the other variables, I don't think there is a list anywhere (none that I know of anyway) that can tell you what they do - there are simply too many. The only time I know what they do is when I need to change them for one reason or another. And it usually means doing an extensive search through the game's data to find out when and where the game modify that particular variable. Hence finding out what they do and what value they should be for a particular situation.

@ Sabre

Thanks anyway. No, I was wondering if in the existence of BG2/ToB, has anyone mapped out the SK variables - kinda like the human genome :) - listed what they do, etc.

Wow! Well, I DID ask, but without a programming background, I'm not going to mess with it. :p

Thanks all for the help.
