Ok, v sorry to take u all back so far but some of us have only just started playing. I've finally found all the golden bones of Kaarax or whatever its called and I can kill the lich form no problem

but as soon as the demi lich comes along he casts two or three death spells, a couple of imprisonments and bang thats it I'm dead!

Is there any protection from this sort of thing or am I just not a high enough level to beat him yet ( I'm around level 13 ). My party consists of:
Me "Detrius" (Cavalier), Minsc, Valygar, Jaheria, Aerie and Nalia Any help much appreciated, Thanx

After he went into Demi-Lich form, use Prot from Magic or maybe Prot from Undead scrolls...

Prot from magic make invulnerable to magic, Prot from Undead invisible to undead...

You could also use 6th level mage spell Immunity : abjuration to prevent these imprisonments.

Doesn't last long though...

Slayer is immune to imprisonment, BTW...

Minsc's beserking should stop him from being imprisoned, but i am not sure if any weapons that early in the game can do any damage to his demi lich form.

Items that damage Kangaax's Demi-lich form which you can obtain relatively early in the game:
1) Staff of Rhynn +4 (sold by Ribald)
2) Carsomyr +5
3) Melf's Minute Meteors
4) Ring of the Ram
5) Daystar's Sunray Ability

IIRC, Daystar's Sunray distrups his casting, but doesn't do damage.

NB: In my game, Minsc's Beserk ability didn't protect him from Kangaxx's Imprisonment.
(Although it did from another Demi-Lich I ran across)

If you have ToB installed, you can make a pit stop at Watchers Keep, and Get both the Short Sword of Mask +4 (Awesome for backstabbing, as if the target doesn't die from it, there is a chance of him becoming entangled

) and Firetooth +4, the best projectile weapon in the game. Both weapons are capable of hitting Kangaxx. Now, combine that with the Ring of Ram, Staff of Magi, Carsomyr, Defender +5 (Sorry Drizzt

). Once you reach chapter six, you can have all of these, but if still in chapter 2 or 3, and don't want to wait, most are still available.

For fun and some good tips, read Fifty Ways To Kill Your Kangaxx on Baldurdash.
For more good tips, read the Kangaxx the Lich topic in GameBanshee's Strategy Guides.
If all that
still doesn't work, try a search on "kill kangaxx".

@Xyx:

I actually did a search on Kangaxx the other day (Having gone through the game twice, I never bothered to kill him, so I finally decided too) Now there si a lot of good strategy in that gem of info.

Careful about protection from undead though, If Kangaxx can't see you, he won't do his death dialog and basically never dies.
