Level advice for expansions (particularly Tribunal) (possible spoilers)

I've now got both expansions and I was wondering if anyone had any advice about what kind of level would be best to do Mournhold. I'm a level 15 customised sorceress at the moment, with destruction in the high 60s, conjuration in the 60s, unarmoured in the mid-30s, and Intelligence of 96 and Willpower in the mid 70s. I encountered an assassin at level 12 and survived by the skin of my teeth, partly because I was not expecting it at all lol. I don't want Tribunal to be too hard but at the same time I don't want it to be ridiculously easy and I'm just about to do the dwarven ruins near Balmora then I'm off to Ebonheart and Vivec so I was considering going across to Mournhold while I'm there. Any advice on how long I should wait until I do? (I was going to do Bloodmoon later on when I was further on in the main quest).

Odd that noone has been all over this thread...

Honestly, it depends on a few different factos such as your knowledge of the game, your "skills'' (''Chicks want guys who have cool skills''), the items you've found so far and so on...
A 15 lvl noob may have a hard time entering a burial tomb and ousting whatever he finds in there, whereas a hardened player with a lvl 15 character may already try his luck on Solstheim or quickly advance in the main quest.

If you had a hard time with the dark ''bravas'' you may want to wait a little and pump your character up to a 25-30 lvl before ''going tribunal'' as they say in Brazil :D . Because surely, you will find that Tribunal is more challenging in the combat aspect.

P.S. If you care not for your integrity as concerns cheating and the like, you can also adjust the difficulty slider ot a lower level or... into the negative:speech:

there was a reply to this but it seems to have vanished lol.

i've been doing tombs and caves since level 2 lol as i tend to like the challenge and get around them. i'm now at level 26 and have decided to get to level 30 (by then i should have finished the majority of my telvanni quests) then head off to mournhold. i've not decided when to do bloodmoon yet though.

i like a challenge but i don't want to cheat and don't want it to be too hard so i think i'll take your advice and go when around level 30. i'm not a hardened player but i've played a lot of rpgs so kinda know my way around them and how to make combat situations more manageable (eg. buffs, summons etc.).

thanks for your help.

No level is too high for Tribunal. I'm playing a Level 57 Nord with all attributes max except luck which is at 61, long blade in the 90s, heavy armour in the 70s, clad in legendary armour except for greaves, boots and pauldrons, having the Necromancer's Amulet, Marara's Ring, Ring of Azura, had bumped my strength up to 157 with CE enchantments and my agility to 120, and I still had to use quite a lot of scrolls and potions to beat Gaenor using a Daedric dai-katana.

Thats good to know :) Are the enemies in Morrowind + Expansions scaled so you get harder enemies the higher your level? Or are they a fixed difficulty? Just curious cos if they are level dependent then it seems it wouldn't matter what level I was really. I've already noticed that at level 2 I only got ancestral ghosts and the odd skeleton in tombs yet now i get bonelords, daedra and skeleton champions all the time and never ancestral ghosts.

Actually I believe the difficulty of foes you find are location bound... - (And no, I don't mean the ''L'' in Dunning's OLI Paradigm :D ) Anyway, the creatrues/enemies are specific to a certain geographical area, and as you advance through the game your quests will lead you to more adverse areas. So no, they are not scaled.

And yes, Gaenor the Gay does indeed have a pretty nice armor and may take a while to defeat nonetheless, my point as stated above, - it depends on your ''player-skills'' and how you play, your knowledge of the game (what works best in which situations) as well as the extras (lvl, weapon, armor, spells) of course.

More importantly than merely the extras in my view is the way you derive an advantage from applying the assets (extras) you posses.

i think for you lvl 30 will be right for you. if you fight correctly you should be able to hang for the most part. just save often, have some way of healing, and don't make trouble with the guards....especially the shinny one in godsreach.

Don't forget that the assassins are the same leve as you are.

IIRC I started Tribunal with a lvl 33 Bosmer who majored in stealth. It was very hard, but if I could do it, I'm sure you can too.

I decided to wait until I had finished the main quest, which I have now done, and I'm just going to tie up loose ends before starting tribunal at around level 36.
