Over the months I've watched people come and go, here. Some people have a few questions, and instantly depart. Others hang around with suggestions for a while. Then, there are a very few who just endlessly ask as many questions as possible, even refusing to read earlier posts on the same page to get what they seek, sometimes creating misleading and false topic titles to post the same questions repeatedly--and they never give back a thing to others, never answer a question or assist.
Yeah, it gets me down just a bit.
But then, there are some people who offer up a lot of information, helping out those who really need it, patiently gathering and offering advice and background. So I thought I'd create this topic for them: the best of the folks who have plenty to give to others in this BG2 forum.
Go ahead: post your entries.

Sabre, Xyx, Manveru, Fable: those are my votes for some of the most helpful folks on here
And if I forgot someone who helped me in the past, PLEASE don't get all indignant, and your help is appreciated

Thanks guys. It's nice to know people appreciate some of the help we give. One question, how have I helped people?

Sabre, Fable, Xyx, and Metatron have been the ones who've answered most of my questions. Although he's never answered any of my questions, I think the best thread I've read on the board was Two's No Deaths, No Reloads. I really enjoyed reading that one. Thanks again everyone!!!!!

If I am voting for those who have helped me specifically
Sabre
Pebz
Fable
and LeeHo760
deserve special mentions. There are others that answered my questions also and deserve my thanks!
If I was to vote for people who I see regularly post and help all (including myself indirectly) then (in addition to the above!)
KensaiRyu
Minerva
Xyx
Nippy
Amongst many others. I have not posted that many questions - the search function on this board is really good.

I have got to admit this would have to be the most welcoming gaming community to newbies that I have ever seen. Too often people out there class themselves as "Masters" of a particular game, flaming newbies every time they post a question. It's the complete opposite here, although I'm not a newbie to the game I was once
Thanks guys

My thanks go out to any and all who help/debate/critisize/encourage/ any idea's that people have on hear.
I don't think i've seen yet things like:
PersonA: I was thinking of trying (insert bizzare new concept here) what do you guys think?
PersonB: Thats stupid...
And that's what i like to see. So my thanks go to everyone who has an opinion and is willing to share it without being a jerk.

As South says, there hasn't been any lynching on the board. There might be disagreement, but we seem to just talk it out as civilized people
Thanks to everybody for making this forum what it is...

xyx, metatron.....
It's nice to visit a board where the average intelligence level is higher than Beavis and Butthead. To spite all the fussing none of us would bother with this board if this wasn't a cool*** game.

@Craig - thankyou! I tried lol! But when in doubt - wipe it out!
I had to reformat my drive as well recently! but no relation to BG problems, thankfully.
Did it sort out your installations with BG1/BG2/ToB?

As several people remarked, this definitely isn't a condescending board. There's no "nobility" lording it over the peons, and Buck's been good about preventing flames anywhere--here, or in the SYM topics. My recent experience with other boards hasn't been as good, but I think the kind of participant you have has a lot to do with the kind of tone the site owner and moderators set. They've definitely done a good job, here.

I have been away lately as I am a moderator now at Team BG for scripting so I dont come here as much, since I am very busy, nonetheless heres my entries of older helpers, when I frequented the board:
Weasel (who could forget him!)
ShadowStrider (oldie but goodie)
Fable (of course)
Sojourner (another long timer)
Kevin Dorner (when he had time to help)
Buck Satan (check the old posts
)

I would say kensai Ryu for providing with amazingly prompt advice when i first started.
Yshania for being a northern lass
Fable for providing me with the inspiration to write lots of daft spells for the spells that were left out topic
Xyx, Dark poet, Weasel, Sabre, basically those who frequent the SYM board for putting a smile on my face at 5:00 am in Japan!

@Fezek - it just proves that friendship can exist across the pennines - even if you are thousands of miles away at the moment
