Hi all having a blast here playing the game, had a quick question, these gems we pick up, flawed ones, perfect ones, rubies, pearls, etc..i remember in diablo they could be placed on weapons and armours, but in Oblivion, do they have a purpose? should i jus sell em or what, they take up space and if theyre only good for their monetary value, itd be a shame, i mean why make em flawed or perfect...anyone know? what is their purpose?

quick answer for a quick question: no. purely monetary

slightly longer answer - the reason there are flawed etc is purely so that low level adventurers acan find ones that arent worth much and higher level adventurers can find ones that are worth more.

enjoy :)

Note, there is a mod out there that raises the value of those gems. Flawed or pure, they seem to be heavily underrated.

personally i'd quite like to have the ability to use a high armouror skill to forge your own jewellry with the gems and the like, could be a use for the tongues etc found lying around... :)

Now isn't that the truth! I was finding flawed ones in the beginning, so I thought ok, low price and all. But now I find a flawless emerald and the price is in double digits. Huh... You know, it is getting slowly tiring to download mods to fix what should have been in the game in the first place.

I definitely recomend getting the mod that raises the price of those gems. They definitely seem under-priced to me.

I typically use them to decorate houses, and sell. Makes a place look nice.
