Illyich the ****

Having recently reinstalled BG2 TOB to pass the time, I found out that Illyich's entire crew is 1 million xp, apart from Zhivago the cleric who has 3150000 xp for some unknown reason.

I have tried out many mods - ascension, tactics, ease of use, apack etc. but also the unfinished business for the restoring parts of the game and finally trying out some of the new chars - Generic Archer, AntiPaladin, Ferelan etc.

Point of this coming soon, does anyone think it is possible to beat them with a newly created party of 6 custom npcs that are all level 7 ?

Note options for helping out include, raising my own xp to a similar level as the traps/locks are all removed and thus the xp gained from them I would add to the npcs at the beginning of the game. But I am open to suggestions.

Zhivago has that many experience points because he has the High Level Ability called Summon Fallen Deva. The interesting thing about the Fallen Deva is that it can only be hit with a +3 or better weapon, and no such weapon is available in Irenicus's dungeon. The game just isn't any fun unless it's challenging, you know. Obviously, you don't want to let Zhivago cast any spells. If your main character is a Mage, you can give him the spell called Enhanted Weapon at character creation so you'll be able to create some +3 weapons. But that doesn't really make the fight much easier.

Yeah tactics, ascension etc involve utilizing every tool plus grand mastery of the kitchen-sink !

I did beat them one way easily - having a 2500000 cleric, druid and anti-paladin exported from TOB with no items just dungeon items from around the areas and spells.

Although if I push it, I strongly think I will be able to kill them all with a level 22 cleric with 3150000.

I feel it better to voice my opinion on this matter however and say the combined xp of 6150000 divided among my 6 custom npcs, would result to something near 1225000 xp each which I think would be a good starting point to being all the battles in the mods I have installed.

Better yet and more fulfilling (after reading one of VonDondu's post in another thread) would be to set their xp to the BG TotSC xp limit which would one or two levels above 7 and take on tactics - thats alot more reasonable.

But now I just beat them with 6 custom single-class nothing special npcs that are all level 7 and was super chuffed.

Pic included of the bloody massacre muhahaha

Euhm, how did you beat the duergar party that can also be found throughout the rest of the dungeon? Their bodies are placed in exactly the same way as you will encounter them. You need a very powerful spell to kill all the dogs, the mage, and the fighters in one time.

Rather simple, invisible mage, wait for them to leave, then whack them with a skull trap whilst being out of their sight and I also threw in a warding glyph for good measure (whether or not this succeeded is unkown however, but I do know that the wizard members cast no defensive spell protections on themselves only a small melee (self-reflection or something similar but not near as strong as mirror image)

Where or when does this occur?

Greetings all.
Forgive my ignorance, but I have never encountered this party in all my playing of BG2, both SoA and ToB. I know SoA thouroughly (and can solo the game on the hardest difficulty with a beastmaster, including Kangaxx) and my only encounter with Ilyich is around the corner from the library that I saw in Amran_X_Kaiser's jpg, and he is really really easy. This is in Irenicus' Dungeon right? In the prologue?

There's an Improved Illych mod somewhere, maybe it's part of Tactics mod.

These are examples of mods that make the game much harder. I've never used them personally.

BTW, how do you beat a Fallen Deva with no weapons that can hurt her? Can you just run away for that long a time?

Where can I download this mod? It might be kinda fun.

In tactics, most doors which can be abused will become magically stuck open. The deva, for me, was the absolute smallest detail. Don't you have a character with a sling? Magic missile? Innate larlochs minor drain? Any of that will interrupt (usually) the long casting time of the spell.

Now see if you can do it with only the stock NPCs at your side, with only the PC being customized.

There are two fully exploitable methods to killing the Illyich gang which involve natural npcs and custom party npcs.

Needless to say if anyone wants to know post letting me know.
