joining guilds is dependent on attributes as well as skills - do you meet the requirements in the attributes they need?

Your character will need agility and personality at 30.

Alternatively there seems to be a conflicting quest that you receive from the Fighters Guild namely (spoiler) Obtaining the Code Book from Sottilde. If you have performed this quest you will not be allowed entry into the Thieves Guild

I would reccommend doing a search. This problem is common and i have seen It 3 times in 3 months.

Conflict

Question with a spoiler...
Spoiler
I've done the codebook quest for Eydis and since I probably got my skills and attributes at a required level it's doing that quest that's keeping me out. So is there a way to get around this fact?

@k11u,
it depends on whether you are on PC or Xbox. If you are playing the former, you can open up the console and type in the code below:

pcjoinfaction "Thieve's Guild"

Here is a page of additional console commands should you need them, many are cheats, but quite a few can help out when you hit some kind of glitch.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for PC Cheats - The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Codes - The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Cheat Codes, FAQs, Walk-Throughs, Hints

If you are on Xbox, I'm doubtful you can do anything. You might try some charm spells and the like, but I'm not at all sure they would work..
