Levitation

Well, I was doing some quests for the mages guild and it had been a while since I had advanced so I checked the requirements. It said I needed one skill to be at 70.

Well, I came up with the idea of making a spell that was a low cost and then just cast it over and over throughout the travel of (as we all know, long) my quests until I reached that level.

I ended up choosing a levitate spell since traveling is the most annoying thing in this game. I've never been into magic so I combined it with spells from different schools in hopes that every cast would bring up each skill, which it didn't

Well, I don't like using cheats but I figured it would get expensive to continuously use Magic potions so I decided to use the infinite Magic Cheat. Well I started from Sadrith and continuously cast it all the way to Dagon Fel (however you spell it) When I got there I figured the best way to get down was to stop casting and just fall until I saw ground then cast again so I don't die.

Well, I never fell. It seems that the game glitched and I levitate permanently even if I cast the spell once. The only way to get it to stop is to reload the game. This is a pain, is there anything I can do to make it stop without having to always reload it?

Bit of a spoiler for a new Morrowind fan

First of all, LOL @
This is a pain,
Second of all, unless you have some very powerful spells/potions/scrolls levitating is really not worth the trouble as it will quite likely get you to your destination slower than on foot. Instead, when you progress a little in the game (and hopefully advance a little in alteration) you can get a ''jump'' spell which is much more effective than the levitate spell.

Thirdly, did you know you can use different modes of transportation to cities and locations (e.g. boats, teleport with Mages Guild, Silt Strider (3D-Amoeba with long shanks)

Fourth, when you sleep you regenerate both fatigue, magicka and health - so you don't we have to constantly acquire new potions.

Fifth, if you can't get rid of the levitate spell, try a dispel potion/spell/scroll.

That's that (for now)

If you rest it should stop. You'll have to rest in a bed though. What spells did you combine it with as you may have accidently found the constant effect glitch.

Can you rest at all when levitating?

Try a spell with the dispel effect.

Better way. Create 2 spells - lock 1 pt and open 1 pt... Casting these alternately will increase your alteration...

You can rest on beds.

The easiest and most painless alteration training spell is feather 1 pt for 1 second on self.

Well I know I can rest in beds while levitating but I don't think I've tried it with this glitch so I guess it's worth a shot to see if it stops. Still kinda a pain but it would be better than reloading if it works.

I tried dispell at 100% and it didn't work.

I know it was Telekenisis, Levitating, Fire, and Chameleon, I'll have to write down the specs on the spell and post them here, ie. magnitude, duration, ect. I do remember it had a lot of 10s in it

Now if it is some sort of universal glitch keep in mind I did constant casting from Sadrith to Dagon Fel. The first time I tried it I stopped half way (somwhere before Vos) to see how high I would have to fall to died instantly. So that time it actually wore off, but the full trip to Dagon Fel it glitched.

If you are on PC there is a console code. I believe it is:

"
Spoiler
player -> setlevitate 0
"
