Even looking through the "walk through" section i cant get to elder demus fathien, in the location marked E where the throne room is, there is nothing there, there is no option to open a secret door, there is no doorway there,
can someone help me as this is quite frrustating? Is there a patch to download or something??

go to the sleeping quarters

If I am understanding you correctly, you are still in the reception area looking for the elder fathien by going after him through the little trick he pulled sliding back into the wall.
Even though he starts out in the chair, you can find him in the sleeping quarters with about 25 of his closest friends. I have some success picking off the fathien faithful at the door way and leading the elder faithien into the stair way. It seems like i get better hits on him there then when he is freer to use his dual wield weapons.
