Mods on disc?

I can't download mods because my game computer isn't on-line, and it isn't going on-line, either. I had more than enough virus problems and this computer has never been the same...

Anyway: Are the mods/patches going to be available on disc, d'you know?

In a word, no. Mods can't be sold, so any method of disk distribution involving sales (which would be required to make it financially viable) is impossible. The best you can is either download yourself from a different computer and copy to disc, or get a friend who can do this for you. Sorry.

Darn. Thanks, guys.
But patches will be available on disc, wont they? They used to be distributed with gaming mags - don't they do that any more?

I could be wrong... but I'm pretty sure patches are not distributed on discs...

Well I think you can still find that here and there but I am not so sure. But can't you just pop by an internet cafe and download it to a disc? I doubt it'll be a huge file.

Oh and you can always get someone to do it for you, plus all the little interesting mods then just send the CD to you.

If it's handled as MW was, then the official add-ons (like Tribunal, etc) will incorporate the patches for Oblivion. There should also be patches online you can download, but they won't be available on disk separately. I've seen a couple of attempts already on Yahoo and eBay where people were actually trying to sell collections of Oblivion mods they hadn't made on disk, and Bethsoft put their attornies immediately into action. It simply wouldn't be financially feasible for anybody to put any files relating to Oblivion on a disk and offer to distribute them unless without any financial remuneration, suggested or otherwise.

Oh no, I agree with that. What I meant was if he has no net connection at all, the easiest way to be to use the Net Cafe to access net and download anything that is needed, or have someone, a friend, do it for him. I meant the user mods though, not the official ones, cause due to activation codes etc I don't think it can be done on someone elses computer. About patches - well I got my first ones for MW, on a free CD that comes with one of the computer magazines here. It wasn't sold, just put on there, with a bunch of others, for easier access of the players.
