Console commands and skill freeze

I don`t know if it`s supposed to be that way, but when I enable the class menu with the console command "showclassmenu" or use another command that alters my character`s skills in any way (like "advskill [skill] XX"), then they freeze - It`s impossible to increase the altered skill with normal means, that means by using them. Conjuration gets stuck on 23 for instance.
You can call me a cheater, I just cannot seem to decide what kind of character I want to play, so my idea was to change him completely midgame, instead of starting ALL over (blah)
But it doesnt seem to work, like mentioned. Or, it works, but all skills get stuck. Any ideas?

I have the same problem, and its driving me nuts.
I originally just did a minor cheat - changing my appearance, about 20hrs realtime into the game.
Now my whole skill/attribute system is messed up, they werent what they used to be (nearly all dropped). So I decided to adjust them back to where they should have been using attr/skill cheat - then - the same problem arrised!! >_<
Anyone please help the 2 of us poorpies? =.=

Not to overemphasize the matter, but Bethsoft has repeatedly stated that the use of console commands in MW and Oblivion is not guaranteed to work, and may have negative effects on your game. I found that changes upon one particular stat review menu in MW, for example, could delete items from your inventory. Remember, these commands were placed there for Bethsoft's convenience during development, as aids to trying out different things. That's all.
I can only suggest at this point going back to a previous saved game before you made the changes. Though if you're running numerous mods, there could also be a conflict present.

Changing appearance with the ShowRaceMenu command (or something similar) messes up your stats as the game thinks you've selected a new race or whatnot. It attempts to reset your skills and attributes then reapply the racial bonuses etc.
There is a work around however, which should help you avoid skill problems when wanting to change appearance in the future: once you've altered your appearance, do not click save/confirm on the race menu. Instead quicksave the game while the menu is still up. I have not tried it myself, but it is meant to work, and will save your characters appearance without altering stats
