Sheogorath quest (spoilers)

Ack! This is frustrating....

I am in the middle of the Sheogorath shrine quest, and can't seem to progress, even through the solution seems obvious...

I have received the quest, arrived at Border Watch, talked to the Shaman, been told of the prophecies, been told to go to the inn, and learned about the cheeses.

Obviously, I need to use the cheese to lure in rats....but nothing I do with the cheese seems to work. I have tried opening the cases and just leaving them open, I have taken the cheese and dropped it in various locations (can't even drop the smelly one), I have tried walking around with the cheeses to see if I can lure rats in from the surrounding areas..... NOTHING seems to work... I have about two hours put into a minor side quest - so this is starting to get frustrating. I am either missing something obvious, or I have a bug...

My quest log seems still says I should go and stay at the Inn. I have done that - but the log hasn't changed. I wonder if I have found a bug? A search here suggests nobody else is having this problem...so it may be a bug?

Thanks in advance for the help.....

Okay, First you need to talk to the Male Khajiit in the grey robe; ask him about the prophecy. Then with the very stinky cheese in your possesion go to the cooking pot in the "town square" or leave the inn, look left(to the north I think), there is the cooking pot. Activate the cooking pot. It should say something about how the cheese is now cooking.

Spoilers:
Spoiler
After the cheese cooks the rats will arrive, the crazy prophecy guy will call it the first plague and ask that you kill all the rats. After the rats are dead take the rat poison and feed it to the sheep and wait for them to die off. Eventually the quest will update and ask you to stand in the center of town. After that happens run back to sheogorath
quest complete.

Doh! I walked right past the solution I don't know how many times..... I think I was misguided by the innkeeper, who said that simply opening the case of cheese would be enough to attract rats...

Curuiosly, the quest didn't play out quite like you said. The shaman never asked me to help kill the rats - he put out the poison himself....odd

What the Wabbajack does (I think) is it summons a random deadra for 30 seconds around the targeted creature as far as I know it doesn't work on people, but then again I didn't use it much. I did Sheogorath's quest because I knew the Wabbajack was going to probably be useless and I could
Spoiler
give it to Martin for the MQ
.

The Wabbajack seems to have random effects. I have seen it turn a skelleton into a dear, I have seen it do fire damage, I have seen it make something vanish......seems random, which is appropriate for this daedra...
