Ahdarji's Heirloom (spoilers)

Okay... someone else posted about this problem, but they just wanted to quit the quest. I want to actually complete it.
The problem is, when I sneak into the room and steal the ring out of her jewelry box, nothing happens... no quest update, or anything like that. So I tried saving and going back to Ahdarji's house. I dont even have a choice to tell her I have the ring. It was the only ring in her jewelry box, and it was at night.. so it has to be it! I even tried saving, re-loading and then opening the box with the key after picking it off of the countess. That didnt change anything. Am I doing something wrong??
By the way.. anyone ever notice that everyone sleeps in their clothes? No one on this game wears bed clothes of any kind... hmm.

Having the same problem, although the Countess is sleeping, the only ring in the box is a Brass Gold Ring or something like that.
I was thinking that it might have something to do with the Sanguine Quest, as I have already done that one.
Anyway, if anyone knows how to solve this problem I would really appreciate it, my first character got stuck here as well and as I am now at the top in every guild apart from the Thieves Guild, just because of this damned quest this really annoys me...

Try this (I am taking it that you're on PC)
- open console with ~
- type "player.additem 00035e95 1" without the quotations
- close console with ~
That should do it I think.

Thanks Ashen, was looking for the item code for some time. Do you know why this happens (pretty sure I have done everything correctly)? Anyway thanks again...

Be sure to talk to the Countess about the ring before going to the jewelry box later on. This was the only thing I was overlooking.
I talked to Adjari, spoke with the Countess' handmaid, but had not spoken with the Countess herself.
The rings that ARE in there prior to this, are NOT the correct items.

No problem. As for why, who knows honestly. I mean the game has just been released and there are plenty of little and not so little bugs in it, you can just count this one in there. Quite a few people have had it so I don't think it was anything you did per se that caused it. It's good you (we) are on the PC and therefore can fix it, the 360 has no option like that. Well we are eagerly awaiting for the patch

Help please! Code did not work!
I have done everything that has been suggested to make the ring be in the box when I sneak in to get it - even entered the code - but the ring is not there! Tried to pickpocket it off her but all that it showed on her were keys and gold. I'm playing on a PC. Is this a glitch I can overcome? This is driving me crazy! Thanks for any help!
