Crossbows vs. Bows?

Does anyone out there know the advantages of bows vs. crossbows? So far, all the crossbows I've seen have better damage than their longbow equivalents, but it would be interesting if they took longer to pull, and/or if they were less accurate (i.e. the crosshair jittered more, in targeted mode). Any chance that there are such subtleties built into the bow game mechanics?
Also, I've seen one post that indicated that higher strength shortened your pull time for crossbows (but not longbows), and another that contradicted that - anyone have the scoop on that question? If not, is there any advantage to an Archer for improving physique?
TIA,
Kirk

Longbows take less time to charge and are more accurate but
crossbows are stronger.
physique is meant to increase your melee damage not bow damage,
acuracy increases bow damage and makes it more accurate.
speed makes you charge your bow faster.
like i said crossbows are stronger but the best ranged weapon in
the game is a longbow, you can get it from the chapel of skorm

Longbows i always go for. I like the more rapid rate of fire. Plus i can always go and upgrade the longbows with piercing or sharpening anyways if i want more strength to it. Crossbows are just way too sluggish and take too long to both fire and reload.

Longbows better than crossbows
I agree with Solus Strength here. Overall, the longbow is still superior to the crossbow. I remember knowing that the crossbow is powerful for the first shot but after subsequent shooting, the damage will decrease. As for the longbow, they don't have that disadvantage plus their range is much further than that of the crossbow.
