Just upgraded to v1.4 now can't identify anything

Previously with version 1.3 I found items and generally could see what they were. Now having upgraded to 1.4 every single thing I find needs to be identified, and I have 0% chance of identifying anything. Even the standard goblin sword and shields which are discarded can't be identified, despite the fact I know they are the weaksest and most unspectauular items in the game.

It has completely removed the fun of the game for me, as before I was enjoying travelling around, slowly finding better items, and enjoying looking at the things I came across.

Now every single thing can't be identified. Apparantly identify is a skill in itself which is listed under "magic" (goodness knows why, surely its a general skill) but I haven't even learnt the skill so I can't use advacnment points to get this stat up.

The whole game has been ruined because of this, as its completely pointless me continuing in the game where i am exploring without being able to identify anything.

As you know you find hundreds of things within the game, and in the last 10 minutes of playing I found 23 items I can't identify.

This is stupid and and has left me not even wanting to play the game anymore.

Can anyone help?

If you put some points in identify, it gets better. I'm afraid that's the only option though, and it's not perfect.

Thanks, my problem is that I haven't even got the "identify" skill and so can't put any advancment points into it. Later in the game I might come across someone who can teach me the skill but for now it dosen't help me.

I've actually reinstalled version 1.3 for now.

You only need to know what an item is if you're going to use it. An unidentified item sells for the same amount as identified items.

My bad, I meant to say, "Inspect," not "Identify," but it seems I misread that description anyway, it's supposedly for just traps. Yet, my brand new character could still identify a few items, and got beeter as I progressed. There is a skill for it, I just don't know which one it is now.
