House/Marriage/Profit/Aging

... first off = thanks to those who helped on my previous thread
I did the arena and, well, without your suggestions, I'd have been toast ... I didn't do well at first, but got the hang of the hotkeying ... did do wonders for my gold and xp :-)
Will add Bereserk + up Multi Strike next.

Ok, onto my next ?'s
I hope you guys aren't getting bored seeing me post more more noob ? :-)

I'm onto Lady Grey; working on the Dark Bordello quest; Oakvale - my own quest; gems-aging dilemma.

I'll start with Oakvale.
1) I want to buy that "Marital House" ... I think that's what the GameBanshee walk called it ... but, after reading all 4 pages of threads, nobody says "how to buy", just that they buy or wait for property to go on sale ... who/where to I buy houses from ... in Oakvale and later in Browerstone North(... to marry Lady Grey) ... I thought by interacting with the door; nope ... just get the click-click locked sound ... not trying to be smart, but I don't see a real estate office :-)
2) Since I want to buy the house in Oakvale, it makes sende to court, find a wife.
Yet, all ladies are purple and don't interact with me ?
I get big hearts over their heads, but then they just walk away.
Do I need a better attractive multiplier .. it's 1 with Chainmail / 3 with my Apprentice clothing(... I assume it's the number in the heart top left of the screen)
For some reason, the Merchant store is always closed ... only opened once; after the Bandit quest
Where can I find attractive+ clothing ... will it make a difference ?
3) I've been roaming and fighting all over the map and accumulated 100 Ruby's ... with my Guile, looks like I can turn a profit selling/buying etc them ... but, not eveyone will buy them ... is there a merchant I should seek out ?
4) I'm already 52yrs old ... is it cosmetic, or will it affect my gameplay/romantic options
I don't mind the age, if the game/ladies don't :-)
If I have to get younger, I think I know where, but it will cost big $.

Just a clarification = the best weapon is "given to you" by Lady Grey if you are nice to her after marriage ... the chest weapon is not the best weapon ... do I have that correct
How nice/how long do I have to be nice and what is considered nice ... I really need that weapon !

I think that's it for now; guys :-)
Funny, the battles take care of themselves, but the minor stuff frustrates me.
I've been trying to buy that house and find a lady in Oakvale for the past 20+ hours of gameplay = no luck ... I think I need help on buying houses and courting women :-)

1. If you can buy a house (or a shop) there'll be a sign out front. Clicking on the sign will bring up the dialogue to buy it.

3. General merchants should buy rubies. Try the guy next to the cullis gate in Bowerstone South.

4. Your age is purely cosmetic. It won't affect anything.

I don't remember the part where there is a number on any lady's heart but in order to marry them, you have to buy a house in any town you visit. Second of all, you have to give gifts and woo her until the heart flash bright red or sth similar and a green icon appear around her. Then, offer her a wedding ring (give the real wedding ring, not the fake one) and she'll be willing to marry you.

As what Turkey Chaser has mentioned before, use either the bright plate armour or the bright will user robes. Preferably the bright will user robes as its attractiveness is higher and has one of the lowest scariness point in the game.

If you want more information, its best to head over to either Gamespot's game guide or GameBanshee's game guide as they have very good walkthroughs plus tips and tricks as well.

I don't know for sure, but I think that you need to own a house before they will be ready to marry you. I don't know if that's true, but it would make sense.

To buy the marital house, go to the house labeled #8 on this map: http://www.gamebanshee.com/fable/walkth ... akvale.php

Outside the house there will be a small signpost. Click on it and it will ask if you want to buy the house. Click again and you can either upgrade or rent the house out (you can upgrade twice).

As for the greatest weapon, don't bother waiting for Lady Grey give it to you. If you want the highest damage weapon (Solus Greatsword) you can buy it from the shop in Bowerstone North (shop #14 in this map: http://www.gamebanshee.com/fable/walkth ... stone.php).

Regarding the rubies, make sure that you find a merchant that will buy and sell the rubies. Some merchants will let you sell everything, but you can't buy them back. So make sure to save your game before you unload them all.

Regarding your age, it is purely cosmetic. It does not have any impact on combat and as far as I know, none on your relationships. Even though your "older" sister looks like your granddaughter.

Last piece of advice. If the shop won't open it's door for you, try bashing the door down. The guards will come up to arrest you, just pay the fine. From then on the shop will be open, and hopefully the owner will be there to sell stuff for you.

Guys - wow; thanks.
Ah, the sign ... never read them in the game

As for the Ruby/$ idea ... yes, it worked in Brownstone South
I had to kill time and went to the store .... I now have $1,800,000 .. yeah, it's overkill, but I wanted to waste time before heading up to Lady Grey
Bonus #2 = yep, I perused the weapons and there was the sword ... cost big$, but luckily I had the Ruby's(... still have them)
Bonus #3 = yep, I perused his clothing and saw the Bright Will user Stuff

You guys know your stuff :-)
I just came upon it by luck while wasting time.

Now I just need a nice attractive+ hat and I'm set.
Plus I look better in the Will User clothing :-)
May fight in it as well = going to look for better Chainmail next; just in case.

According to my map/teleportals = Oakvale and Knothole Glade have houses ... time to buy and find me a lady
I've been stocking up on Roses/Perfume/Chocolates :-)

Still have some rings = I'm guessing more towns will appear and I can add a few more wives :-)

Yes, the sword is a lifesaver = when my mana ran out; I don't have to whack as much and thus take less hits before I can hunt/peck the will potion hotkey :-)

Again guys; THANKS ... you're making this one fun and enjoyable game .. definately going to replay it ... I'm taking my time now; since I'm in that "sweet spot" of being powerful & thanks to you guys, I can do some roaming/fighting/courting
I can quest at my leisure ... I already see who my final battle will be and why ... I'm in no hurry to have my butt handed to me ! :-)

Next Up:
1) Just dawned on me = I never checked the arena merchant
2) Still have to find the lady garb = did buy the gloves and I'll bet the upper/lower clothing is in the area ... if form holds true ... then on to the Bordello

*** one more question = found a wife to be in the Hero's Guild, but couldn't find a house .. just windowed the game and came and loked at the walkthrough and I don't see a house marked = I guess the Guild ladies aren't available for marriage ? ***

If you need a hat with a high attractiviness bonus you should take the pimp hat in darkwood bordello, 20+ attractiviness modifier..best in the game. :p

Guys - I remembered the unused house while I was playing.
Problem was, she giggled in bed :-) ... already have one wife in Knothole Grove who giggles, so I decided not to save and did some evil things ... that luck brougt me upon the Bordello quest items ... that led me to own the Bordello + I decided to check out the Demon door ... I was ready for the bight fight :-) ... after making it inside I found; well, you know what ... my attractiveness is now +80 ... so I go to my new Bordello, meet the ladies and who's available ... yep, "Beverly the Bairmaid"(... like my barmaid wife in Oakvale) ... so I have her "follow" me all the way to Brownstone South ... she talked about no adeventure; bored; her hair; and me being rough, but right (?) .. gotta love this game ! ... so in the end, just by dumb luck, it all worked out
Just wish some wife would be a little more entusiastic to be with me.
Giggling Knothole Grove wife and Lady Grey sounds like she's reading from a poor romance novel ?
After all, am I not the "Hero" :-)

Thanks guys !!!
Now I hope to stumble upon the Blue Mushrooms :-)
Oh, and maybe an entusiastic wife.
I don't know how many maps with houses are left, but I have 13 rings and plenty of presents in inventory.

Was going to up Berserk, but either there is a cap on spells, or someting is amiss ... it should tske about 58,00pts and I have 70,000+ in General and 4,000 in Will, but the spell at level 4 is greyed out ?
Guess I'll have to spend my xp elsewhere.

Appreciate all the help ... time from some wandering + fighting :-)

To master berserk you need to have a certain amount of evil points. I suggest you keep doing evil things. :) :)

Oh, another thing, you don't need 13 wedding rings uless you divorse very often. There are marital houses in the followig places:
Bowerstone south
Oakvale
Knothole glade
Hook coast
Snowspire
(Its possible I missed one...I'm sorry for that :D )

If you decide to divorce and remarry, it would be best to do that in a place where you get a lot of cash for marrying...just a little tip ;)

TLC - thanks.
I'm so good, I have a halo :-)
I guess 3-Berserk is enough.

I see only 2 new maps/houses ... I'll stick with my wifes = I'm loyal
I just gave up the Bordello.

I even tried the ol' "follow" me trick to buy more homes, but it seems only one wife per town :-(
Was fun leading them into an ambush.

I hope the ladies are more entusiastic on those other maps and not the same voiceovers :-)

Hi Joe05,

One thing to note, no matter where you go, everyone, not only the ladies, will look and sound the same. One of Fable: TLC's shortcomings so don't get your hopes up.

DesR85 - yes; I've come to see the pattern :-)
At least, I can tell by dialogue options, which wife is a"giggler" or one "more enthusiastic".

Took me till pre-Graveyard to figure I can uopgrade my houses = yes, I know I should read the signs :-)
We now live in luxury.

One side note = wish you guys would have told me about the Graveyard and Hook Coast visits = just kidding
I just wanted to have an easy morning and night = WRONG

I don't want to "spoil" anything, since I believe it crucial to the story.
I'll just say 3hrs later and 250,000+xp, I finished all that is the Graveyard quest(s). Luckily as you swing the sword, you move forward = my defacto movement ... and if I saw a red pip, I attacked, no matter where = which led to more red pips ... or listen for a moan/groan :-)

Last night decided to visit Hook Coast. Take it easy, mingle find my house and wife.
Again guys, why didn't you tell me :-)
About 3hrs and 300,000xp later I finished.
In fact, I thought I screwed up and finished the game.

I now have accuracy/multi-arrow maxed and I don't use a bow :-)

I will not go into the Demon door !!!
Just going to visit my wives, give them gifts and mingle this morning.
I wonder if the fishing contest is available - I don't so

I want to thank everyone for all your help and patience with what I see now were really noob/dumb questions.
I have a good build; my hotkeys are memorized = I might have a chance ... though I still Enflame the screen when all are dead ... I can't hotkey and see the screen ... better to be safe thand sorry :-)

The battles were so long and constant, my shoulder blades are still sore ... I barely could rest(afternoon) and sleep(night) ... painkillers helped ... too bad they can't help me in combat ! :-)

Hopefully I won't bother you guys again.
I don't think I'll go Evil when I replay... I'm guessing much less less dialogue and mingling + you have the tough decision after the Hook Coast quest(s). Least I think that was the quest = seems like one ran into another and into another for hours :-)

Move wife

Does anyone know if you can move the wife you have got to another town. I tried just walking my wife from Bowerstone South to Bowerstone Quay and she couldn't follow so I gues there is no chance of moving her from one Marital Home to another???
Also - what happens if you are married but sell your Marital Home?
